About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To grow a handlebar moustache... UPDATE - I grew it, loved it for 4 months and got rid of it! :)
ABOUT ME
Essentially - science nut but also eagerly enjoy all athletic activities and playing music/photography.
I have been lucky enough in life to have met and kept great friends, had great experiences and am excited for the future.
I'm super laid back and love to joke around and laugh. I'm pretty competitive in many things, including sports and games... I'd say I'm a nerdy athlete! I enjoy all sports but also have a secret passion for board games!
I've most recently accepted a position at the University of Jyväskylä as a post-doctoral researcher - so I'll be hanging out in Finland for the foreseeable future! If you want to grab a pint and hang out with me and my wife, please let us know - we won't know anybody so company would be nice! :)
PHILOSOPHY
Insert some long winded, convoluted, deep meaning, philosophical statement here that has a touch of wittiness to make you think.

Music, Movies, and Books
I really enjoyed the first 3 books in Terry Goodkind's - Sword of Truth series but it definitely went downhill with the other 10 books. Other fav. fantasy novels include Fire & Ice series and the Eldarn Series (it's kinda okay…).
UPDATE - Okay, if you haven't read David Gemmel, check him out, especially the Rigante Series… it's a goodie! Also, the "Gentlemen Bastard" Series by Scott Lynch is really good too.
I enjoy anything by Michio Kaku (renown physicist) especially Parallel Worlds and Hyperspace.
Not a huge movie buff, BUT:
Fav action - Spiderman 2
Fav comedy - South Park: The movie
Fav thriller - Training Day
TV:
Futurama, The Critic, Seinfeld, The Simpsons, live sports (of course hockey)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Surfing in Hawai'i for a week, surfing in California for 2 weeks, and surfing in Florida for a couple weeks… man, I grew up nowhere near an ocean and I love surfing.
Istanbul was a pretty great experience too - the food and drinks were absolutely fantastic! :)
Teach, Learn, Share
If you have any questions regarding any science, at any level, I can definitely have a conversation and most likely answer your question(s).
As mentioned above, I really do like to meet people who offer different knowledge that I currently have... life is about gaining a full, broad understanding of everything.
