About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live life

ABOUT ME

Myself and Nick, my boyfriend, are both from the south of England. Nick teaches a Chinese Martial Arts called Wing Tsun, and often travels around Europe to both teach and to learn. I have just graduated from University and studied Philosophy and Ethics. We are both interested in similar things - psychology, philosophy, martial arts, reading, films, and like to go climbing together at our local bouldering centre.

PHILOSOPHY

I suppose my personal philosophy or ideas on how to live, is to try to understand people and things and to do what we can to make a difference, to make the ride more enjoyable.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now we are new to CS, and want to use it to help us travel around the Netherlands while we try to look for somewhere to live near/in Amsterdam. Then, hopefully, once we have a house, we too will have a couch to be surfed!

Interests

philosophy, particularly eastern systems such as taoism and buddhism. I am very motivated by humanities, and concentrated a lot of my degree on human, animal and ecological rights. I am a supporter of Greenpeace, the World Wildlife Fund, The end of the Line, and the Marine Conservation Society. I am also interested in Psychology, spend a lot of my time reading many different books, and like to try to keep fit and healthy!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Catch 22, The Things They Carried, The God of Small Things, The Shadow of the Wind, To Kill a Mockingbird, Of Mice and Men, Middlemarch, Slaughterhouse Five, Titus Groan, Ghormanghast, One Hundred Years of Solitude, The Alchemist

Music: All sorts... The National, Regina Spektor, The John Butler Trio, Tool, Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, MGMT, Paul Simon...

Films: I like a bit of everything really. Seven Years in Tibet would have to be one of my favourites of all time. Then... Life of Brian, When Harry met Sally, The Darjeeling Limited, Star Wars, Terminator... many many more

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have walked on the great wall of China, seen Tiananmen square and the Forbidden city, I have held a lion cub and tried to wrestle with a slightly larger version. An orphan elephant once also tried to put my arm in its mouth... I have seen the pyramids and been in some of the tombs in the valley of the Kings. I have learned to Scuba Dive and seen some beautiful fish in the red sea

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a qualified swimming teacher, I can also sing, i suppose I know a fair bit about philosophy, ethics and religions, and i used to be able to play the saxophone but a long time ago!
Nick teaches Wing Tsun, a Chinese mixed martial art and can play the guitar. He's a good personal trainer too and knows a lot about diet and exercise.
