ABOUT ME

I'm gradually travelling the world and climbing in every place I go. After I'm done with school I'll be living out of the back of a truck with my doggy and making my way through every state in the US, idea being to get to the top of some really cool boulders, take Moose on some epic hikes, and meet a bunch of awesome people. I'm also working towards being a tour guide in Hueco Tanks.

PHILOSOPHY

We always have a choice - don't do anything that will make you miserable! Providing for your own happiness spills over to everyone you encounter and ultimately makes the world a better place.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm mainly interested in surfing. When I get my own place around 8/13 I'll be able to host. I'm always down to hang out and show people around town or go climbing or day drinking or on a doggy date or pretty much anything else.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only ever couchsurfed with George, twice. He was super nice and accommodating and our dogs got along really well. I had never done something like this before so I was a little apprehensive at first but it turned out really well.

Sometimes I enjoy movies but am usually not super motivated to watch them. The dollar theater is pretty great but the regular theater, especially 3D, is not. Some directors I generally like include Lars von Trier, Quentin Tarantino, and Stanley Kubrick. Let's not forget Tommy Wiseau (kidding?).

My taste in music and literature changes pretty frequently. Thomas Pynchon and Haruki Murakami will always be favorites. Oates' Wonderland Quartet is kind of incredible; I can't say the same for her other stuff although it's good. Recently (3/13) read Freedom by Jonathan Franzen and would highly recommend it. Currently (5/13) re-reading American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis - super enjoyable.

This year I've been listening to stuff like Devendra Banhart, the Growlers, Starfucker, Arcade Fire, Sonic Youth, Why?, Animal Collective, M. Ward, ... blah blah blah.

Every desert sunset is an amazing thing seen.

An amazing thing done that comes to mind easily is hiking around Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Park. I like feeling tiny.

I could teach you how to program in Matlab or any kind of math up through partial differential equations. I'm probably good for some introductory climbing/bouldering skills pertaining to movement and technique, and how to sport climb relatively safely.

I'm currently learning Spanish (Latin American). I'd like to be reasonably fluent by December, I suppose meaning that I would be able to meet all my basic needs and maybe make a friend or two.
