About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the world and outside of the normal aquarium set for tourist. --I'm new here so if you have doubt, look at my FB (Mitch Parker) I'm the one with the cactus-smiley-face--

ABOUT ME

I'm a 26 year old American who has been traveling part-time for about 3 years and full-time for the last 7 months. I find that I am drwn to the countryside more than cities but with the right company can enjoy either. Most of my destinations are at least loosly related to rock climbing and I carry my equpment with me 90% of the time. So, if you ever thought you might want to climb, it's somewthing I can offer as I love to share my sport.

PHILOSOPHY

'The Edge- The only ones who really know where it is are the one who haave gone over'

Funny Quote and maybe sounds a little dramatic but I like it. (and i dont like to put names with quotes)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Contibute? Well, I hope to set a good example as a couch surfer and an American. I am tired of being called an atypical American in a positive way. It means people have a bad image of us to start, I want to change it. Aside from that I always contribute to my host in some way, usualy cooking food bc I like to cook. When I get a couch I will share!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been luck enough to be able to couch surf the traditional way for a long time and am thankful for that but now am curious what this communtiy has to offer. I used to live in the Middle East for a while and built up a network of friends from all over the place. On top of this I travel alone and meet lots of people. Lastly, the climbing community is extremely close-kint which allows me couches in a lot of places too. I have 'surfed' (the old fasioned way) in USA, Canada, UK, Qatar, France, Germany, Spain, Qatar, UAE, Oman, Malaysia, Philippines, Australia, Indonesia, China, Japan...

Interests

I like to travel by moto, hitchhike, cave, camp, surf, skate, snowbaord, wakeboard, cook, eat, drink, talk, and climb.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Slept in a raining rainforest in monsoon, stood on a 5,500m peak, climbed Mt. Fuji and ran down to catch a bus, got 'stuck' village in Borneo, averaged ovber 100 mossy bites a day in Thailand, volenteered teaching english in China, discovered a new cave in the Philippines and was rewarded with a meal of dog, Hung out with an old sailor from Sula Wesi, got robbed and abandoned on the rim of a volcano crater in Lombok, slept in Bedouin's tent in Qatar, worked on a farm in Slovenia, meet the world'S 2nd tallest man in China, scared my pants off making purchases in Mexico, surfed a shallow reef break in Indo, lived in a tent for a month in Australia....
