Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Getting to meet new people from diverse backgrounds and exploring new places with their expert advice. I've only couch surfed once so far, but it was a wonderful experience and I hope to do more soon. I'm finally in a position to host guests and I'm excited to do so!

Taking photos, printing in my home darkroom, cooking, building electronics, hearing peoples' stories, reading and talking about urban planning and public transportation.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Depressing, feel-bad movies. If the protagonist gets hit by a bus at the end, I'll probably like it.

Music: Romantic era classical, Canadian indie rock, trip hop.

Books: The Death and Life of Great American Cities, Flowers for Algernon, pre-1980s science fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching the northern lights on an island in the middle of a river in northern Ontario.

Meeting a stranger on a train in Croatia and keeping in touch for the past seven years.

If you've ever had any interest in learning about film photography, I'd be glad to share what I know. I have a home darkroom, so if you'd like to try your hand at developing your own negatives and making prints, I'd love to share that particular skill of mine.
