ABOUT ME

Amelia goes to school in Washington state for philosophy and Katie is studying early elementary education in Minneapolis and works at a preschool. We love traveling, consider ourselves laidback and are looking forward to new experiences.

Katie lived in Paraguay for two months working in a community to help create a sustainable project. She ended up painting a mural on the school with the students and learned some of the indigenous language. So if anyone needs Guarani lessons, feel free to ask. She's also been to Chile, Argentina, Costa Rica and France mooching off of former foreign exchange students in every country.

Amelia has taken many road trips with her family across the United States (Yellowstone, Colorado, Glacier Park, etc.). Several times in a camper with her grandparents! Although her biggest adventure was heading off to college on her own (no parents helping with boxes or nostalgic farewells). By now she's conquered the west coast and is heading east. More east than expected: Europe! She's looking forward to traveling outside the US and without her family.

While we love hanging out with new people we can be independent if need be because we realize a lot of people will have work and school.

PHILOSOPHY

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We're new to couch surfing but look forward to meeting new people whether that be through traveling or hosting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Neither of us have taken part in the CS project yet but we think it's a great way to meet people and get to know a city from the perspective of the people that live there.

Interests

Our common interests include Ricky Gervais, swimming in lakes, learning jokes in new languages, walking around, late night conversations, Prince, and quality food/booze.

Music, Movies, and Books

We love love love music and although our music taste varies quite a bit we can both agree upon Phoenix, Ray LaMontagne, Daft Punk, Justice and Prince.

We also enjoy the Marx Brothers and Fred Astaire movies. Amelia loves Woody Allen and Katie has nothing against him.
We like movies like the Hangover, Superbad, etc.

We both have a guilty pleasure for 'B' or cheesy movies and occasionally will watch (and enjoy) Lifetime movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Katie- I've caught and released 5 snails from certain death (and named them all: Pepe, Susie, Speedy, Jacques, and Gordo!)

Amelia- I survived the chairlift at Pont d'Espagne.

Teach, Learn, Share

Katie is learning how to teach children for a living (ABC's anyone?) and can help you learn how to read music.
Amelia can make a delicious vegan pie.

We hope to gain a richer understanding of the global community by experiencing it.
