ABOUT ME

I am a social worker traveling the world with my partner! We started our round the world trip in July 2016 and hope to spend a year seeing new things and experiencing new communities! I'm clean, quiet, and pretty laid back--as is Ashley. We both have traveled extensively--Ashley used to live in Australia and has traveled all through SE Asia, Central and South America, as well as Africa. I traveled in Central America for 6 months and have also been to South America, Europe, and the Pacific!

We volunteered first in Northern Ireland on a conflict resolution center and now we are headed to Scotland to volunteer at a community center as a housekeeper and group worker!

We are very excited for this experience and are looking to both meet new people and cut down costs through couch surfing!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I do not have any couchsurfing experiences but I have friends who have done it and they seem to enjoy it!

Most recently, I seem to have a friend who couchsurfed through Guatemala and found it to be such an enjoyable experience!

I'm all about creating a bigger community!

I enjoy reading Haruki Murakami -- most all of his books especially 1Q84! I'm in a science fiction book club that meets once a month and we've read Octavia Butler and Octavia's Brood recently, which were phenomenal!

Movies--I watch a few movies here in there, but am primarily big on TV shows using Netflix and Hulu! Ashley and I are watching the Big Love series from HBO (yes it's old and out dated!) and enjoy the newest: New Girl; Modern Family; Downton Abbey; The Fall; Orphan Black; and Sherlock!

I loved my time roadtripping across a few countries in Europe a few years ago with two friends. We flew stand-by and ended up in Germany, our bags ended up in Scotland, and we hopped on a train to Amsterdam--where a friend picked us up and traveled with us through Belgium, Amsterdam, France, and Spain. It was quite a whirlwind!

I also enjoyed my time in Central America--I backpacked solo across Guatemala, to Mexico, Belize, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica! I hopped on chicken buses, caught a ride on a hostel bus that traveled from Nicaragua to Costa Rica, learned Spanish, worked at a domestic violence shelter in Xela, and lounged around on beaches most days.

I can teach people knitting and crochet--probably also clarinet, but I just picked up this instrument after 15 years of not playing.

I'm all about learning new things--I learned how to weave in Guatemala and to create accordion books in Oaxaca.

I can cook and clean for you all! I can also bring gifts, water plants, take out pets for walks, and straighten up :)

Otherwise, I can be friendly, kind, respectful, clean, and entertaining with conversation!
