Overview
About Me
I consider myself an adventurous and curious person. I love to travel, try new things and meet new people.
I lived in Japan for 2 years as a child and attended a Japanese primary school. I have forgotten a lot of the language but the experience influenced me to appreciate travel, exploration and diversity in opinion and practice.
At university I studied BSc Physics. The subject still fascinates me but 3 years was more than enough in an academic environment. Since graduating in 2014 i've been travelling through Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium and Germany doing volunteer work, making new friends and generally exploring. I've really enjoyed working outdoors, on farms and in gardens and seeing the immediate affect of my labours. Its been a refreshing change to writing papers and sitting exams!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love travelling and the only kind I can afford is budget travel. I recently started hitch-hiking and i've had a really great experience! I've not only saved money but met tons of interesting, lovely, generous people! Things like that restore my faith in human kindness. I think couchsurfing is based on similar principles. Besides, the best way to discover a new place is to be shown around by locals. I'd rather learn from a resident than a pamphlet!
Interests
Sports (football, cricket, tennis etc)
Science (I studied physics at university)
The Natural World
International politics (though my knowledge is minimal)
Movies (dark comedy, sci-fi, thriller etc)
etc
I love being outdoors, going for hikes in the mountains or forest, scrambling and climbing in all conditions. The best part is feeling the sweat and muscle-ache when stopping to catch my breath and admire a great view! For similar reasons I love playing sport though recently I haven't had the chance very often.
In the evenings nothing's better than a beer and settling on the sofa to watch sport or a good movie.

What I Can Share with Hosts
I'll challenge you at table tennis or lose to you at card games!
I'm happy to discuss any topics that grasps my attention. I'm fascinated by science and technology, animals and nature and political relations. I can also geek-out about football (soccer) teams and players and will talk for hours about cricket or tennis if encouraged :)
