关于我

CURRENT MISSION

to become OTHER...

ABOUT ME

I'm a rather open-minded person seeking to create positive community and open spaces in this rigid, constricting world. This can only be done, I believe, through creating positive social networks.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that in our society we do not live. Rather, we sell our bodies for a few hours a day as a MEANS to life. Our life becomes nothing else but a means to life; we are ensnared in this tyrannical, disciplinary trap for our entire lives. In the postmodern era, control becomes more decentralized, power more capillary, and discipline more insidious. It is time to break this cycle, to experience everything (or rather, other things) life has to offer. This involves both a genealogical examination of the present order, how things got this way, how this micropolitics works, how biopower shapes our subjectivity...but it ALSO involves a radical experimentation, a crucial series of transgressions against the present order. My life is an end in itself; there is no higher goal but to live. Human power is its own end.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I've seen the potentiality for things to be other than they are. I've seen this in New York at an IWW march, here in West Lafayette in our communal living space, and everyday as all sorts of people push against the boundaries of order...

教,学,和分享

The foundations of Western epistemology are crumbling before us. The humble subject of the modern era is eroding in the postmodern era. This spells the end of a fixed human essence, of the autonomous subject, of objectivity. This is also the end of truth itself. The realization that truth is constructed, that everything around us is merely a historical contingency predicated upon one particular culture, one particular set of rules, one particular method of organization...this is a potentially radical realization. Along with this, the long-standing binaries of Western thought are gone. Truth/fiction, subject/object, will/will-less...What replaces this is a mobile network of power relations which create the modern subject, and which can be changed. Power is not merely that held by the sovereign, but discourse, language, and knowledge as well. Against the status quo are a myriad of transgressive, experimental forces, pushing the boundaries of order, the standards of values, and the stability of hierarchies. Let us become swept up in its movement...let us BECOME.
