About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Collecting more injuries in NW USA, Japan, China & Europe

ABOUT ME

Hello, I am Chris.

I'm from England. I grew up by the sea in Portsmouth and moved to London where I've spent the last 12 years living and working as an artist. My work background is varied and includes, support work to people with disabilities, tutoring and managing a public arts social enterprise that specialised in working with young people. (This meant I got to paint murals with kids!).

I'm currently traveling around the world and I am in North West America (Portland Oregon/San Francisco) until late May. I will then head to Asia (Japan hopefully, then China).

PHILOSOPHY

I'm intrigued and learning about by Existentialism.

I like these two quotes:

'The meaning of life isn't the things that happen to you. It is how you organise yourself around the things that happen to you'.

'Change is the only constant'.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've just started out as a Couch Surfer and I am looking for my first experiences in this community. The ethos is cool and I like sharing with people.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been staying with a good friend of mine that has offered me a place to stay at her home in Portland, Oregon. She isn't a registered Host but she has been amazing in letting me stay with her. I've been helping out with some of her construction projects and around the house in return. It has been great getting to know someone new. Exchanging ideas and stories with her.

Interests

Creativity in all it's forms. Collecting injuries.

I play guitar, walk slacklines, practice Chi Kung, juggle and of course, make art.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favourite Movies - Mostly non mainstream. Documentaries like Man On Wire. Anything by David Lynch or Werner Herzog.
Current favourite music - Meshuggah, Neurosis, Zoe Keating, John Coltrane, Kate Bush, Joni Mitchell.
Authors - Bukowski, Burroughs, Rhinehart, Palanuick

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Too many to list...

Many epic rock climbing stories...
Many epic gig experiences...
Hot springs and bamboo forests in Japan...
Rocky beaches in Hong Kong...
The German Art World...

Lately, quitting my soul destroying job in the midst of a recession, shaving all my hair off, getting rid of my possessions and buying a round the world ticket. It's a new chapter.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm more than happy to show people how to slackline (go look it up on Youtube if you're not sure what it is) It looks hard but most people can pick it up in a few hours. I like learning about ideas, especially creative ones.

I'd really like to learn more about any bodywork techniques. I'd like to get better at juggling too.
