About Me

CURRENT MISSION

i dont know... i like to travel... mostly i like to add "..." to the end of all my life's decisions and sentences...

ABOUT ME

i am fairly personable, polite in excess from time to time.
i like people's answers to the "tough" questions, ie: how would you handle being trapped in an elevator? other questions of the like.
i listen to talk radio with a voracious appetite...
maybe, one day when i grow up i will be a farmer, a radio announcer, or a geologist, either of these! i would be truly happy!!

PHILOSOPHY

i dont know, kind of a loaded question, "fly with the punches", i guess. um, i have been very fortunate in life, fairly sheltered from life's calamities (ie. never been to a funeral) and have been overall very happy with the hand i was dealt... there! i think that's at least 2 cliches!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

ummm... i promise to go couch shopping here ASAP, i would luv 'to host a whole host' of people and 'toast to host who makes awesome french toast' in oher words, a memorable, sharing, cultural experience (this canadian culture, what a knockout, something not to be missed in one's lifetime)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i used to sing in a choir and we travelled all through western canada (AND!! we went to South Africa, as well) in my two years with them, oft times we billeted with various other choirs who we sang with. my favourite memories were (in the prairies, Manitoba in particular) staying with dairy farmers and waking up early to help with chores. i love animal husbandry, and milk cows are very beautiful. another memory was in Johannesburg, S. Africa, two male chorister, MANLY in excess, were billeting with this very nice family. anyhow, it chanced that both MANLY chorister had a run in with a vicious cockroach and had to be saves by the youngest daughter of the family whilst the two men cowarded in the bathroom. said two chorister were myself and my good friend.
ALL my couch surfing experiences with new and old friends alike have been equally pleasurable, i only wish they could have lasted longer!!

Interests

talk radio
museums, films, architecture...
rural life
umm, little out of the way places where people sit, read, feel comfortable... (i suppose this might be a cafe but, it could be anything)

Music, Movies, and Books

i luv: "morrissey" solo and with "the smiths", darren hayman solo and with "hefner", "xtc", lots of oldies like "everly bros.", "paul simon and art garfunkle", "bobby darin"... i spent a stint in mexico and alls i had was an old cassette tape of "john denver" that guy is pretty special to me as a result. ummm... lots of new stuff, other old stuff, probably too big a list...

books, i luv: canadian authors like "robertson davies", "mordecai richler", etc... then, like grand, sweeping, EPIC novels by the likes of "michner", "clavell", "edward rutherford". and i like oldies like "fitzgerald" and "steinbeck", "hemingway"... suff like that. OH and i hear that cormac mccarthy is the BomB!! still have to read that.
movies: i like all kinds of movies! doc's and indie films, japanese animation film like "hayao miyazaki"... lots and lots of films

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i dont really know, it seems very mundane things that have happened in my life have struck me the most... ie. my friend made this amazing garlic soup, like invented the recipe, and i think he was trying to make something that was utterly horrid but, i thought it so delicious.
otherwise, i visited thailand once upon a time. it was at the same time as that's countries tourism campaign "AMAZING THAILAND" (i have a t-shirt) so i suppose that was pretty "amazing"!!

Teach, Learn, Share

i am a blank slate, in a lot of ways. you need only to say it an di will be interested.
as for waht i have to share: i am pretty patient, and i am smart, and if i dont know the answer i will find someone who does, THere, that's what i am good at!! NETWORKING, i am a networker!
