About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To spend more time with friends and less with technology
ABOUT ME
I am Australian, my husband was raised in America but left there when he was 18 - as he's now 50 he considers he is Australian.
We love to travel and have travelled together for almost 27 years with a little break when our sons were very young. When they were about four we started all over again. We both love people, natural landscapes, gardens and gardening. Harv likes to play disc golf and will be in Japan in June to play the Japan Disc Golf Open. I love reading, walking, music. We both love being in unfamiliar cultures not so much for the monuments as the people we meet.
PHILOSOPHY
Be positive - it is what it is.
If you really can't accept it change it, don't simply complain.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Well we are perhaps older than the average couchsurfers. Our son asked if we would agree to him hosting couchsurfers in 2009. We had a really wonderful time and hosted many lovely people - some I know will be life-long friends. We discovered that those people that are attracted to couchsurfing are a special group and that they share with us many of the values and interests that we have regarding travel.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have not been surfers at this point. To find out more about us from the perspective of our previous guests you should check our son's profile (Cameron Yarnall) for his references.
Interests
Walking / staying in natural reserves / national parks. City / community markets. All kinds of cuisines. Harvey loves playing chess when he travels, he also loves being involved in community activity such as a scratch game of volleyball or similar or assisting with activities. I love taking in the things of normal life - domestic architecture, gardens, produce markets etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We took our two sons to Turkey when they were eight and ten years old. We spent three months just moving as the experience took us. Our younger son has wanted to return ever since. He is presently meeting up with two friends in Quebec so that he can take them with him to revisit the places that are so strongly etched in his mind and heart (and we are very envious).
