CURRENT MISSION

The past few years I've gained much through a commitment to my art, having traveled the road of the "starving" arist. I'm interested in meeting like-minded people who see art as a means for improving all aspects of life and to deepen my own understanding of the world and how it works.

ABOUT ME

My life has been a quest to understand, to think outside the box, and to experience the world from different perspectives. This led me into the field of Linguistics and then into teaching English as a second language for a number of years. More recently, I've been establishing myself an artist. I'm an honest, easy-going, respectful guy with a quick wit and get along well with most people. I open up pretty quickly with people I feel comfortable with and will share my heart and soul with those who seem interested in doing the same. I love music, drawing, writing, art, and the beauty of nature.

Finding those things for which I have come into this life--music, art, writing, spirituality, philosophy--mastering them, and helping to improve the lives of others through these modes.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a lot of world and life experience to share from living and working overseas, from teaching and interacting with people from other cultures and backgrounds, and from committing to living out my artistic vision (following my bliss). One of the most common comments I receive from others is "I've never thought of it like that before. That's interesting." I can certainly help give fresh insights into just about anything. And I love writing and telling stories.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've done a bit of traveling in my life, but most of it has been the more conventional route of staying in hotels, with friends, and family. I couchsurfed in the Valley (near LA) and had a fabulous experience. I look forward continuing to meet like-minded people.

Writing, reading, drawing, painting, art, guitar, Rock, inter-cultural communication, philosophy, Tarot (I do Tarot readings). Of all I've studied on the spiritual side of things, I find Carl Jung, Alan Watts, Terrance McKenna, and Joseph Campbell the most helpful and transformative.

As far as music goes, I'm a pretty committed fan of Psychedelic Hard Rock (Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Neil Young, early Allman Bros.). I'm pretty open to movies in general, though I prefer really good stories that challenge conventional ideas, like the Matrix, The Truman Show, Hunger Games, Divergent. I read mostly nonfiction, like Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell and other spiritual-philosophical kinds of things, but I also read any fiction that interests me at the time. Most recently I've read the Divergent series and Pygmy by Palanuik. Some of my all time favorites are Frankenstein, A Clockwork Orange, Lord of the Rings, and One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest.

I lived in a tent among the Masai in Kenya for about 7 weeks, learned to survive in the wilds of Africa, and saw a hyena twenty feet away from me while going to the tent one night. I've had a number of interesting experiences in Africa and California that I think you'd find interesting. I'd love to hear your Amazing stories, too.

I have extensive training in Linguistics, spiritual ideas, and Cross-Cultural Communication. I have a good knowledge of Jungian Psychology and love talking about it and its implications. I'd really appreciate learning more about Quantum Physics, Chaos Theory, and String Theory.
