About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To become a neurologist and figure out how to battle the many ways a person can lose their self.

ABOUT ME

As it says on the business cards one of my best friends designed for me (with no input from myself), I can generally be described by three adjectives:

Scientist. Antagonist. Gadabout.

Reductionist by nature. I find humour and freedom in being blunt. Questions are always more important than the answers. I've done a good deal of traveling after graduation throughout the states, both camping and using Couchsurfing.org to make new friends and acquaintances.

I once had a fellow 'Surfer call me "cosmopolitan." I'd call myself "restlessly engaged."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I show people the best of my town and hope to see the same of others'.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had a hitchhiker rob me once =/

Surfed around the West a little a few summers ago and didn't find a bad character in the lot, hoping to visit them all again in the not-too-far-flung future. Drinking at a great brewpub in Kansas City, 4th of July fireworks in Idaho Falls, and Cozy Inn Burgers in Salina, KS are the highlights that come to mind.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my favorite and most emotional moments of my life was staying up all night with a couple of my oldest friends, driving to William Faulkner's grave, drinking wine and whiskey as we each listened to a single song of our choosing (mine was "Against the Wind" by Bob Seger) as the sun came up, evaluating what we wanted to do with our lives.

Then we went to Big Bad Breakfast, delirious from lack of sleep and a mild buzz, and each ate a burger for breakfast known as the Burgsalom, Burgsalom. The coffee was the best I've ever had and the burger rivaled anything The Vortex (ATL) serves.

There are many other moments, but I'm sure you'll understand, some things are meant to be kept between those who were present.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always interested in explaining complex scientific phenomenon to a lay person. I can play a little guitar and I am always up for a critical discussion as long as I feel I can offer an opinion based on actual knowledge (though I can BS with the best of them after a few drinks and in the right company).

I am a wealth of useless information.
