books: make it smart, make it magical, and with violence. fight club, crime and punishment, the devil in the white city, the amazing adventures of kavalier and clay, and i'll probably start/finish lullaby today..

tv shows: arrested development, twin peaks, freaks and geeks, my so called life, kids in the hall, 30 rock, party down, weeds, it's always sunny in philadelphia, coupling....

movies: amelie, pump up the volume, wet hot american summer, raising arizona, rocktober blood, the man with two brains, homeward bound. Movies with their own theme songs (preferably that also summarizes the plot in a catchy way)
