One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Most adventurous travel experience was a year abroad was as a volunteer in Mongolia, a bizarre land that is beautiful, harsh and unforgiving. As we rode across the desolate steppe on pushbikes, our anxiety started to rise as the sun began to set. This vast land went forever, and we had no idea where we were. The wolves would be out soon.
Relief came as we spotted a herder’s hut in the distance, chimney softly puffing smoke, telling us we were safe. We knocked, and they invited us in. We sheepishly accepted their food and water, saying little, staring serenely into the fire. We set up tent next to these hardy, hospitable people.
