About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To appreciate everything wonderful in life without being greedy about it !

ABOUT ME

I get excited easily, usually about very simple things. (Like roasted sweet potatoes. Yum.)

PHILOSOPHY

Just eat the marshmallow now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I really think CS is one of the best, most beneveloent services on the Web. A service that helps us to show up in an unknown place and meet an unknown human! And to get the inside scoop on a previously-unknown place, and get to know a previously-unknown person! It's simply great.

Interests

Exploring new places by bike. Walking through fields, forests, mountains. Swimming in streams/lakes/oceans. Skiing or snowboarding down mountains, preferably through fresh powder...

Going to farmers' markets, gathering food, cooking. Sampling new cuisines and exotic fruits.

Where our food comes from. Urban gardens. Organic agriculture. Permaculture.

Dancing! Usually not in dark clubs though, just when the moment strikes me.

Getting regular doses of live music, contemporary art, theatre, dance.

Music, Movies, and Books

A few books I've really liked: The Kiterunner, A Hundred Years of Solitude, God of Small Things, The Omnivore's Dilemma, brilliant agrarian essays by Wendell Berry.

A few bands I really like: Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade, Wilco, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Modest Mouse, Built To Spill

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to spend time learning how to grow things, indoors and outdoors, especially things that we can eat.

I can explain to you what I learned in electrical engineering, for example, the electromagnetic miracles which happen millions of times a day when you IM when your friends, or call them on your mobile phone. There's so much magic (natural and man-made) around us everyday that is so easy to take for granted!
