ABOUT ME
I love the mountains and taking off into the wilderness. Though I certainly wish I was able to do it more often. Im a camp director at a summer camp near Durango and I love it! I'm from Missouri, but I am a CO native at heart! I have a dog named Ranger, he is a sweetheart....that's certainly not 'all about me' but it's a fair start...and apparently I'm a poet and didn't know it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Update 10/28/16: If you look at my profile you'll see I haven't hosted in a while, I am trying to get back to hosting more so please don't hesitate to send me a couch request!
I really like to host and help introduce folks to the area. Durango is a great town as it offers numerous opportunities for outdoor recreation! When I say, "make yourself at home", I mean it...I think sharing that sense of home is really important, especially when you have guests you've never met in person. I want to surf and travel abroad more, I just haven't gotten too many extensive travel opportunities since I joined CS. I can't wait to travel more and visit some of the amazing folks I've met through hosting!
I will respond to request, most likely within 24 hours. The exception being if I'm not around technology for multiple days, like I'm exploring the wilderness or something.

Music, Movies, and Books
Ryan Adams is my favorite artist, but other artists I enjoy are The Cure, The Waterboys, Dylan, New Order, The Eagles, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Mumford and Sons, and The Wailin' Jennys...to name a few...I also like to listen to a little country or pop radio every once in a while...and my first album was Third Eye Blind (self title) and my first concert was KISS in '97.
Of the books I've read...The Last American Man and Black Sun are among my favorites. I like to read here and there, but rarely finish books in their entirety as I tend to read more non-fictional material to help improve my knowledge and skill base.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Before I took my current job, I led teenagers on two 26 day expeditions in the Weminuche Wilderness.
Hiking the Na Pali Coast to the Kalalau Valley on the North Shore of Kauai
Teach, Learn, Share
There's no learning better than the learning you get from new experiences and meeting new people! As someone once said, "experience is the best teacher as it gives the test first and the lesson later". I'm always hoping to learn new things and share with others anything within my experience or knowledge base.
If you are interested in knowing more about the beautiful mountains of Colorado, I would love to share with you what I know, or take you on a journey! The beauty of southwest Colorado is somewhat a secret...shh...The San Juan Mountains are by far the most beautiful in the West! (in my opinion).
What I Can Share with Hosts
Knowledge, music, experiences! I really like this whole couchsurfing thing, and I like to talk with my guests or hosts about it, and see how they prefer to participate or what kind of expectations they have for their experiences through couchsurfing.
As a surfer, I am nearly up for anything. I am perfectly fine traveling and exploring on my own, but if you have time and want to join me you are certainly welcome! At the very least, maybe joining me for a meal within your local would be great!
I also prefer clarity of plans and expectations. So if you are able to host me, but are busy and can't hangout much, please be clear. Please be clear about any expectations you have for when I stay with you, especially regarding etiquette within your home, above all I want to be respectful. I always feel the more front loading minimizes the potential awkwardness when not only meeting someone new, but especially when staying in someone's home that you've never met in person.
