About Me
CURRENT MISSION
follow me, the wise man said, but he walked behind
ABOUT ME
I'm Sjoerd-Jeroen Moenandar (people usually call me Munan), I live in The Hague, where I am an author, writing books and articles on philosophy of art and literature. I've travelled a lot, experienced a lot of hospitality and like to return the favour, whether to the persons themselves or to any traveller passing by.
My house is in Scheveningen, the seaside district of The Hague, about 15 minutes by tram from the center. We live some 8 minutes walking from the beach and there is a great vibe in this part of the city.
Of the two cats mentioned in many of the references below, one is still with me in the apartment, which I also share with my girlfriend.
I've been involved in the Groninger Institute for Experimental Tourism, to conduct travel experiments.
PHILOSOPHY
Accept what you cannot resist, but resist what you cannot except.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I host as much as I can.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
In 2005 I've surfed some couches in Croatia. Apart from that, my girlfriend was an active couchsurfing member in Kuwait, where she used to live. That gave me the opportunity to hang out with the amazing group of people that make up the cs community in Kuwait, leaving me with many friends.
I used to live in Groningen, where I hosted many travellers, which I really enjoyed. I hope there will be some more nice experiences in The Hague.
Interests
It says here I should list anything I'm interested in, but I'm interested in practically everything. It's a character flaw I was born with, I'm afraid.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Getting kidnapped by the Ukrainian army was pretty amazing, though not in a positive way.
The greatest thing was meeting the girl of my dreams and hitch-hiking out of the country with her 2,5 months after that. We were both 19 and travelled thumbing and free-camping through Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Southern Europe for 9 months. That was 14 years ago and we're still together.

Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Luxembourg, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Syrian Arab Republic, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States
