When I asked my Erasmus buddy for advice on doing my next solo-trip, she said a solo-trip is not really a solo-trip without Couchsurfing. Then I recalled my experience staying in a friend-of-friend house. The feeling of entering the house of someone I hadn't met before, cooking, eating, sleeping etc doing all the activities I had only done in my very own personal, private space brought a strange sense of proximity. Strange because it's new but then familiar. And totally different from staying in a hostel/airbnb. That's why I'm here
