Resumen
Sobre mí
My wife Molly and I live in Tucson, Arizona, USA with our 21 year old son Tristan. We moved here from Oregon because it's really nice to be able to rock climb in January in shorts and not need an umbrella. Molly and Tristan spend the summers in Oregon, so If anyone is dumb enough to want to come to Tucson in the summer I have plenty of room and would love to show you around. Actually, Tucson is not that bad in the summers if you head into the hills. We are less than an hour from Summerhaven where it is usually about 30 degrees cooler than in the valley.
Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing
I just started playing the credit card sign up milage game and realized I don't need to be super rich to start traveling. I hate staying in impersonal hotels. We have stayed in quite a few Airbnb's, but we always rent private places and never have any interaction with the owners. I think we are missing out on some cool experiences by not hanging with the locals. I know when I lived in Maui windsurfing back in the day, I had a completely different experience than most tourists, because I went to all the cool places that only the locals knew about.
Intereses
Back in the day I used to work at Snowbird in Utah and skied 100+ days a year, then I got into windsurfing and lived in Hood River Oregon for 4 years and spent a winter in Maui sailing. I have rock climbed for about 30 years on and off and that is mostly what brought us to Tucson. Over 3,000 routes within an hour of our house. (I told my family I moved here to be closer to them...)
My wife Molly is a very gifted runner and actually enjoys it. I like to trail run but seem to spend most of the time injured lately. I've always wanted to travel more, and I love to hang out with fun people that like to do cool stuff. I've also done quite a bit of caving and canyoneering and would love to learn to parapente.
I also like to cook.

Música, películas y libros
I'm a dude from the 80's, and I like 80's alternative music like The Cure, Psychedelic Furs, The The, pretty much anything that wasn't to poppy. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Passenger and Of Monsters and Men. Can't ever go wrong with Pink Floyd either.
I love to read. Growing up I liked the Hardy Boys. I read a lot of travel non fiction like Tristan Jones. Love Tim Cahill. For fiction Michael Crichton is great. For easy reading I like Clive Cussler.
I watch a lot of movies. As far as classics go, The Holy Grail, Pulp Fiction, Airplane and Caddyshack are hard to beat. Hate reality TV and most tv in general. I never watch anything that has commercials. Drives me crazy.
Algo increíble que he hecho
Got out of the cockpit of a bi-plane 5,000 feet off the ground, climbed on top of the wing, strapped myself to a pole and had a great view while the plane did aerobatics. Wingwalking is a blast!
Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones
I'm really good at finding cool, off the beaten path places that most locals don't even know about. I spend way to much time playing with Google Earth and Atlas Obscura. I have a pretty good knowledge of cool things to do in the Western United States. I've lived in Nevada, California, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Hawaii and anywhere from 2 to 5 different places in each state.
