Hello! I'm Helin, a curious soul from Van, Turkey!
I was borned and raised here. It's a place in the east region of Turkey, therefore doesn't get many tourists, but has a lot of natural sceneries worth a visit. So, I'm trying to encourage people to visit and see the beatiful landscape that has inspired me a lot.
Despite spending the majority of my life and working as a doctor here, I still try to make time to see the world best I can. Unfortunately, my job is getting in the way to do it as often as I'd like; but still gives me a purpose, a sense of belonging in a community. Also, I find my profession very rewarding in terms of satisfaction, being able to help and provide comfort to distressed people brings me joy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here to find kind people to meet!
I'm not able to travel frequently, but I still want to learn more about how other people live. So it's just as exciting for me to meet people from different parts of the world.
Asking to be hosted is vulnarable as you'd expect, but knowing that someone is waiting for your arrival adds up to the experience and makes it almost ''homey''.

Interests

Much of geek, I'm into all kinds of trivias and always craving mental stimulation.
I was a huge nerd in school (hence the profession), and read a lot that contributed to my education more than anything else.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm huge into indie rock! But it's not the only genre that I like, I listen to anything that sounds beautiful, and don't buy into ''guilty pleasures''. If you enjoy it, what's there to be ashamed of?
My favourite movie is Amélie, I know all the lines in that movie by heart. In addition to that, I have all the Miyazaki movies in my rotation.
Sadly, I don't read as much as I used to do because of work (louzy excuse, I know) but fiction books from 20th century are my taste. Also, I hate self-help books with a passion, no one should be able to tell you how to live on a piece of paper.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've comed this far! This is an accomplishment, right?
Battling with a lot of internal conflicts had almost convinced me that I wouldn't be able to pass further 22.
I think even showing up and putting yourself out here counts amazing, so I'm proud of myself and all of you people.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not sure about teaching because I'm kind of an rambler with words, but I can teach you all about my interests, Kurdish culture, to my best knowledge of course.
I can learn about your culture and way of living with a big excitement!
I'm into crafts, so if you're a crafty person, then I'd be happy to do stuff with you.
If you know Spanish, it would be great to do some practise!

First of all, my graditude.
Jokes aside, I would love to have conversations on life, share stories and perspections. As an emphathetic person, I tend to mimic the characterizations of whoever I spend time with, so it's easy to dive into deep talks.
