About Me

I'm getting many requests saying your arriving in a few days and if I can accept you. My reply is No! I need you to make your request weeks or months in advance. it's better for us both if you book in advance!!

In my last 4 years I've raised over $81,000 doing marathon's for R.I.C., but by the end of this year I want to have given them $100,000 and with your help we can do it!!! Visit me at- www.ric.org/campbell on donation page click on the drop down link and choose #4 which reads Desmond Campbell marathon Thank You!!

***I do collect Starbucks mugs, if you bring me one from your country or city? Already have 90, so ask first if I already have it as I don't want two the same! I will reimburse you it's purchase price!!!

My Mission is to give the CouchSurfer a Cead Mile Failte it's what you get when visiting Ireland my homeland which means your getting a Hundred Thousand Welcome! While I'd like the Surfer to stay for a minimum of two days, if there's more than one in the group I want to see photograph's of each individual and hopefully a few of each for if at 70 my showcase has over one hundred photographs so there's just no excuse for you with sometimes no photo's or possibly one for it betters your chances of being chosen compared to someone who only displays one photo and I'll pass up a one photo individual.

My preference is the European student that's coming to America for a summer job or looking for a place to crash, or after the season end's and you want to explore the USA I've had some terrific European students in the past and I await them once again! Thank You!

I ask that Couch Surfers arrive at my home after 3.30pm. and wait till I return from work.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Love to show Chicago to a first time visitor by foot, bicycle and public transport. I live downtown in the city center steps of Michigan Ave, Art Institute, Navy Pier, Sears(Willis)Tower, Union Station, Mega Bus, Millennium Park and more. Access to major airports within easy reach. Love mornings, never sleep-in.

I'm a collector of the Starbucks city mug and I ask that you bring me one from your country and I will reimburse you for it as I add it to my collection. But Please ask me if I have it yet!!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

There's no greater joy than hosting CouchSurfers. I enjoy foreign accents. Meeting people while making new friend's at the same time!

Interests

MARATHONS-FUNDRAISING-MARATHONS My first fundraiser was a 100 mile cycle on Chicago's lakefront for M.S.in 1978 and raised $1110 Now years later and am still doing them. Some of my notable ones are listed below. My first Marathon was Chicago Oct 2001- First hike was in Spain, 200 miles on the Pilgrims Trail to Santiago de Compstella, Spain in 1998 loved it so much that I done it again in 1999 for Multiple Sclerosis and raised a 2 year total of $38,500. Grand Canyon hike in 2007 with Leukemia & Lymphoma Society collecting over $23,000 then the Chicago marathon later that year for the American Liver Society $7700- that's over $30,000 2-Marathons in two weeks in Oct 2008 Chicago and Dublin Ireland. Loved it so much and done Chicago & Dublin again Oct 2009. 2010 Ran in the Chicago marathon 2011 the Chicago marathon this year was to benefit kids with physical disability that done wheel chair sports and raised for them $14,000:00 2012- Signed up to do 2.5 marathons for RIC The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and the kids in wheelchair sports with Chicago marathon first and then Dublin, Ireland two weeks later and two weeks later the Big Sur, Calif half marathon raising a combined total of $23,000:00 2013- For the RIC group it was the Chicago marathon raising $21.000-

2014- Again for RIC the Chicago and Dublin marathon giving them a 4 year total of $81,000:00 Now I'm 70 and planning on doing the 2015 Chicago marathon for R.I.C., once again and hopefully I'm able to give them a 5 yr total of $100,000:00

In 2011 was told by the doctor that I was in the early stages of Osteopenia which caused a painful left shoulder and left hip. That's when I met someone from RIC of Chicago. My first visit to any gym was painful experience and now 3 years later the Gym is now a big part of my life after losing 25lbs and dropping inches in the waist and now the doctors are saying my bone density has much improved so it's no wonder I'm doing 2.5 marathons for RIC Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago this year. I'm really addicted to eating right and working out daily.
