Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been surfing this wave for a few years now and are still willing to go ahead :) Couch Surfing is always worth the experience and it never hit me negatively! I surfed the couches of people in Belgium, Germany, Austria, Rumania and Turkey! Hosting will start again as soon as I am back in Vienna :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Before starting with CS I always thought these stories about how CS changed lives are a little bit exaggerated. But due to own experiences with this project I got a sense of what people mean with: CS opens ones heart, soul and eyes. (Nevertheless fuck the commercialization of CS and the shady GTC)

Interests

I study Development Studies in Vienna- and more than just a theme of our studies, I try to live up to its topics: Not letting anybody have power just because it has always been this way; not judging and treating people differently just because it has always been this way; NOT not rethinking the whole concept of how we live€œ just because it has always been this way. I like to see ourselves as always trying to think and look around corners because it becomes obvious that there are things going wrong in this world!
BUT, besides/additionally to our highly “reflective academic lifestyle ...;), I like to enjoy my time as much as possible! I' m all into swimming, learning, people, reading, theatre and everything that can be done outside, starting from Slacklining to Hiking. Food...well food should be more than an "interest" as it makes people happy and connects, its passion and love, its simply good!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books are friends! My closest are probably those by Hesse, Tellkamp, Lessing, Murakami, Martel, Pamuk, Marquez, Vargaz Llosa, Irving... There is not ONE kind of gerne or Author I prefer, its rather what fits into time and phase of my life, which comes to my hand, which amuses me, which satisfies me, which challanges me, which makes me think and sometimes even cry.

For me, Films have to be seen in Cinema- and there I adore movies which are quiet but impressive, funny but decent, big in picture and colour but with a thought, challanging and showing realities of people, you and me, sometimes I even like the very big stories, the long and expensive ones.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitchhiking through Rumania and Turkey!
Swimming thruogh the big blue mediterranian sea!
Climbing up mountains!
Seeing people helping each other- in the most difficult and unexpected situations!
India!
Taking my bike through Poland and Lithuania all the way to the Northern Sea and the Kuric Nerung!
Life...pretty much sums it up! :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Maybe Apfelstrudel? What we could all always share: Your favourite / funniest / most beautiful / ... words in your mothertongue- exchanged for some of mine/ours!
I can teach some Turkish words and dishes, but are thankful for many more!
