I'm a teacher from Washington, DC, USA, happily using my summer vacation time to travel overseas. I don't smoke, but I do drink sometimes (I don't care whether my hosts do either one).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would like to have a more authentic traveling experience. While I will certainly do some "touristy" things, I want to learn about an area from the people who live there. Bonus points if you can point out some hidden gems of your city that other travelers might miss :)

I love to hike, try new food, and go to concerts. I'm working on trying more "extreme" sports and unique activities.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm interested in all sorts of music, from rap to country to EDM, and would love to learn about some new music from my host(s). However, my favorites are the Cure, Blink-182, and the Smiths.
Being a teacher, I have little time to read for fun during the school year, but when I do, I like to read non-fiction and Stephen King books (my favorites are The Shining and 11/22/63).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I make really good "French" (read: heavily Americanized) toast and cornbread. I'm hoping to also be able to share some good travel stories by the end of the summer… :)
