Hi! My name is Natalie and I love learning about other cultures. I am an American who mostly grew up on an island in Washington State and in a town called Bellingham which is close to Canada. In high school I lived in Indonesia for a year where I lived with an Indonsian family and attended an Indonesian school. I love trying new things and making friends from different backgrounds.

In college I became friends with a Russian girl who told me about couchsurfing. She said you can meet really interesting people and be part of a fun network. I am moving to Beijing for an internship and haven't found an apartment yet so I thought that Couchsurfing for a few days would be a fun way to settle into a new culture.

I can knit and Irish dance. I have many stories from the various countries I have lived in and traveled to. I know a fair amount about Islam from living in Indonesia where I lived with a Muslim family and more or less attended an Islamic school. There is not much in the way of authentic American food but I can make Indonesian food.
