About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore inside and out

ABOUT ME

I'm coming to the end of a long (20 month) trip, and am glad to be ending it in beautiful Thailand. I've had a crazy, brilliant trip... and am sad to be going home soon.

I'm a lover of purple or multicoloured things, art, writing and general creativity, literature, music (metal, rock, EBM, industrial, electronic), mesh, crazy festivals (see www.goingnowhere.org for one I've been involved with) and general strangeness. I make lots of cake and do occasional fire poi. I can be withdrawn/a little closed at first, but then evolve into 'an eccentric extrovert'.

PHILOSOPHY

Embrace experience, do what you fear.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, David Lynch films, American Beauty, Pulp Fiction, The Thing, Lord of the Rings...

Music: Psytrance these days! Also metal (from your classic Iron Maiden to folk/black metal such as Primordial or gothic such as Within Temptation), EBM, trad goth (Sisters of Mercy), industrial (NIN, Grendel). I really love Pink Floyd.

Books: How do I even begin? My favourite genres are science fantasy (Gene Wolfe, Philip Pullman) and soft sci-fi (Pohl, Orson Scott Card), but I also like big old poems (The Poetic Edda, The Divine Comedy, Paradise Lost). I think if pressed I'd say Frank Herbert's Dune is my current favourite.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Either going over a ridiculously high mountain pass in Nepal on my first real trek (5400m, absurd scenery), or staying at an ashram in Rishikesh in India, getting up at crazy times in the morning to meditate and do yoga, and go walking in amazing scenery. So shamelessly idealistic... and I was so happy!

Teach, Learn, Share

Basic poi, art, stories, mead-making, cake-making, real basic Hindi!
