About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To get as far away from the life I was content with, in order to see the world I would otherwise never experience. All I have to bring is an open mind and my own two hands - all else is entirely up to possibility.

ABOUT ME

I am still only at the beginning of my travels, having been in Europe for almost two months. And yet I have already experienced so much, and met the most amazing people. I keep waking up to the shock of my reality, that I am leading a life completely directed by chance and discovery. I dont know what is going to happen today, tomorrow, next week, next month; and I like that. To come from the security of your white, middle class home into a world of vast and vibrant cultures, cities, people and traditions is something that is too good to pass up.

If everything in life went to plan, I would be making money for my art, married to an explorer, living in Europe and heading home for a surf on weekends by private jet. But of course, life without plans is just that much more interesting...

PHILOSOPHY

Nothing without significance is achieved without inconvenience; for those who accept the challenge of uncertainty are blessed with the rewards of discovery.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far my participation doesn't go far beyond meeting people in different parts of the world and borrowing their couch for a couple of nights. I live in the pub that I work at temporarily, and have no such couch to share. Although there is a fine patch of carpet to curl up on if need be.

Should the time come that I have my own place, then I will gladly give up my humble abode for the fellow traveller.

Interests

Music; learning strange and beatiful instruments is my new verocious passion. I also love to sketch whatever is on front of me; strangers on the train are daily victims of my random scribbling. I love adventure and a little bit of danger - but then again, anyone who is willing to let strangers sleep on their couch must live by the same code!

Music, Movies, and Books

Into The Wild, an amazing movie. I cannot pin any genre of music down to a favourite; Sinatra, Bon Iver, Jamie T, Bob Dylan, The Specials, Patrick Watson, Sfjan Stevens. Whatever the weather, there's always someone.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumping from a secluded waterfall deep in a protected Australian forest on a beautiful Christmas morning. Nothing quite beats the thrill of flight, met with the terror of plummeting into a dark and silent underworld. Indescribable.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share everything I have to give; which might be the ability to cook you a hearty meal (as good food is of great imortance to me), a helpful attitude, my language, my thoughts, and of course, a friend to see your city with.
