About Me

pretending to be interested in what's going on at work until I can finally leave and explore the world some more! Also trying to eat vegan - at least part-time.

*** Please read the My Home section before sending out a request! ***
*** Hint: I like good requests, and I tend to decline bad requests on the spot. ***

independent, indecisive, unpredictable, sometimes a little snarky. I don't take myself too seriously, so you shouldn't either (you should, however, take your couch request a bit serious!)
I get carried away with thoughts of travelling and exploring something new quite easily - too many things I want to do, all of which right now. I probably should add impatient to the list above.

I enjoy good food and good music...bad food and bad music not so much.

Apparently, I neither look nor sound particularly German, which may be confusing for some of you. I do lack German efficiency and punctuality, and I don't eat pretzels and sausages every day, so I have a feeling I might not be your stereotype-German/Bavarian. There's a "How to be German" book on the shelf though, that'll do. And there might be beer in the fridge.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

First surfing experience back then in 2008, been there, done that. I'm hoping to surf some more couches around the world whenever there's an opportunity to travel, but I also want to host more frequently to return the favor! I also absolutely loathe to eat out by myself, so CS is great to meet up with people for a drink or a bite to eat!

I enjoy meeting people through CouchSurfing whom I probably never would've met and connected with otherwise - regardless of their age or where they come from.
Two of the most special surfing experiences I had so far were surfing on a sailing boat in Brazil (BBQ at the beach included) and a 3-week-long stay in Australia, where I could just grab a board, walk up to the beach across the garden and hit the surf.
I really love that instant friendship you can get through couchsurfing!

reading, traveling, music, hanging out with friends, cooking, exploring the neighbourhood, walking around town, grocery shopping, talking, looking at pictures, recycling, good coffee, interior design! And food. Eating a lot in a short time is the one thing I really excel at. It's my secret super power, and it's very impressive.

I've also just got myself a slackline and I am very confident that I won't fall off the line after 3 seconds by the end of this (or next) summer!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music? There's just so much good music out there! My favourites are Noah Gundersen and William Fitzsimmons at the moment. I also love John Frusciante. Kings of Convenience, Angus and Julia Stone, Fat Freddy's Drop, Feist, Daughter and others that sound like the above. Feel free to play good music at my appartment. I'm always happy to be introduced to new stuff, but please refrain from playing bad music.

Books? Pretty much everything from classics to contemporary novels.
I'm STILL reading George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, which will probably take me forever!!

Movies: All sorts of movies, but I'm still looking for a horror movie that's actually scary. I do love Disney movies, they're awesome!
TV shows I am watching more or less regularly or watched while they were still on although I don't have a TV: LOST, Pushing Daisies, House of Cards (not anymore though, the latest season was terrible), Peaky Blinders, Black Sails, Narcos, OITNB - I actually cannot keep up with the amount of TV shows in my life - it's too time consuming!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bungy jumping in New Zealand. 134m - awesome!

Seeing the Moai on Easter Island. This place is unreal.

Climbing a 6088m mountain in Bolivia.

Spending the cold, cold night (and the following day) on a bolivian bus that got stuck in the middle of nowhere. It was so cold that the creeks started to freeze, but I still managed to enjoy the scenery, and this still doesn't qualify as the worst bus ride of my life!

Painting cookie monster (my secret soulmate) on my nails. Looked pretty awesome!

Teach, Learn, Share

Things I wanna learn over the next couple of years:
Snowboarding, Spanish, playing the guitar, chess, diving, more surfing, skiing.
Teach? No clue - how to reduce the amount of plastic waste in your life maybe...?

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good food, a good conversation and good company - hopefully.
