About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To learn constantly, and meet amazing people.
ABOUT ME
Funny guy, passionate and interested in almost anything anyone wants to talk to me about. Pretty well-informed (hopefully), critical thinker, and definitely aware that there is lots out there to learn, so why not do as much as you can? I travel a lot for work, so I'm looking to shake up the monotony by meeting some great Couch Surfers!
PHILOSOPHY
"A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving."
-Lao Tzu
"In human affairs of danger and delicacy successful conclusion is sharply limited by hurry. So often men trip by being in a rush. If one were properly to perform a difficult and subtle act, he should first inspect the end to be achieved and then, once he had accepted the end as desirable, he should forget it completely and concentrate solely on the means. By this method he would not be moved to false action by anxiety or hurry or fear. Very few people learn this."
-John Steinbeck, "East of Eden"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Currently I am traveling a lot for work, and want to meet people wherever I end up going. No couches needed, just seeing if anyone wants to meet up for coffee/dinner/drinks.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None so far - looking to meet some great people as I travel all over for work.
Interests
Big fan of news/current events, especially local events. Lots of time listening to music and trying to make time to find new music and new stand-up comedy. I really enjoy non-fiction books on almost anything; just trying to learn more all the time.
My life is fully engaging when I'm able to talk to passionate, enthusiastic people about what they care about, and why they do what they do.
Music, Movies, and Books
1984, The Snows of Kilimanjaro, Steinbeck, The Things They Carried, Malcolm Gladwell, any TED talk, Freakonomics, Predictably Irrational, The Time Machine, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, A Geography of Time, and many others.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In general, I've been amazed by how joyful and exhilarating life can be when you surround yourself with passionate people who have a genuine interest in learning more about whatever comes their way. It's incredible how much you can learn when you throw yourself entirely into a situation outside of your comfort zone.
As for amazing things, I'm awestruck by the Swiss Alps. The streets of Paris on a frigid winter night. Lambeau Field with great friends.
Teach, Learn, Share
I suppose I'll start with economics. I love discussing economics, culture, human behavior, and the interplay between them in daily life.
