ABOUT ME

What to say--I have a recently discovered a spirit for travelling not as a tourist, but as someone who wants to truly experience places in the present. I have been a student of humankind, literlly, most all my life (see education). My interest in travelling is not to visit countless museums, monuments and other such tourist traps, but to meet locals and explore cities in the present--to try to gain a sense of the energy and unique qualities embedded within. One must put the camera down and stop moving from place to place to complete an itinerary. Life impacting experiences will not happen unless you put down the tourist guise and let the environment around you in.

PHILOSOPHY

Live life in the present--it is the hardest thing you will ever attempt to do, but truly the most rewarding. The present is really all that matters, since it is the substance of both our past and future.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined CS on the advice of a friend a few months back after I mentioned that I was travelling round Asia for 7 months. Given the hectic schedule finishing my two masters degrees, I was unable to host anyone after joining CS. I hope to meet many interesting people on my travels through Asia, and will return the favor to other travellers upon my return to the states.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Until recently joining CS, I had never couch surfed with a stranger, though I have hosted friends and friends of friends at my home in Atlanta on numerous occassions. I look forward to meeting new people always and sharing with them their outlook on life and travel. I feel that I can also add value to this conversation--pulling from my life experience.

Music is huge in my world--genres; Indie rock (math, folk, lo-fi surf, shoegaze), indietronica (had to look this one up), hip hop, funk, sludge/stoner metal, black metal, ambient, on and on...

I appreciate classic music of all genres, but am definitly focused on what`s been produced during my generation.
