About Me

I was born and raised in the frigid Midwest, where I met my beloved life-and-creative partner LeeAnn. We have been preparing for an exodus not just from the creativity-stifling below-zero landscape, but from the clock-punching hum-drum of normalcy. Instead, we have embarked on a storytelling journey to both kick-start our creative endeavors and jump-start our life experiences. After this, we plan to move our worldly possessions into a land-ship and sail across the country, self-publish, and stay involved in festivals of music and spiritual growth.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have a profound trust in the world that I wish to explore. I have only just begun to travel, and I wish to see the world, but not only through the eyes of a hotel, or the recommendations of Yelp. I want to meet people wherever I go, connect with them, and expand my awareness and friend group.

Interests

Ever since I was very young, I have poured my heart into my art. I have a special affinity with comedy, having written comics since I was a child of 8. Likewise, I have been pursuing caricature since I was 12. I find that laughter is not only powerful medicine, but effective at breaking down walls as well. Though I generally find them frightening in the conventional sense, I am myself a clown at heart.

I am always at home in my sketchbook. Which is good, because as a traveler, it is sometimes difficult to establish just what 'home' means. For this reason I am primarily an illustrator, though I have refined skills in painting and sculpture as well, and a deep unending love for puppets and costumes. Talk to me around Halloween-time, and you'll see what I mean.

This is most definitely linked to my love of theater, particularly what is called 'suspension-of-disbelief'. I have been involved in theater both on and off the stage; acting, singing (I love karaoke,) dancing, script-writing, set-and-costume design and construction, and so forth, and take great joy in the Magic of Imagination accomplished through such an endeavor.

Outside of my artistic interests, I also enjoy cooking long-winded breakfasts that last well into the afternoon, building forts out of literally anything, and staying by the campfire well beyond bedtime-- reminiscing, storytelling, and connecting with those other souls who feel inclined to watch the embers fade.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traded any semblance of a so-called 'normal' life to live free with my partner in pursuit of the grandest vision of our greatest versions. --with our awe-inspiring cat. (she has her own mobile palace, so there's no need for her to go indoors.)
