About Me
Hi, thanks for stopping by. I am currently studying abroad over here in the U.S. for 2015-16 at Juniata College, a small liberal arts school in the lovely rural town of Huntingdon, central PA. I am also working towards my US degree in Political Science while I'm here. I'm actually from the UK, majoring in International Development at the University of Leeds where I will graduate from also!
A list of irrelevant things that I like:
• Wearing Flip Flops all year round.
• Dunking a biscuit for a risky amount of time in tea.
• The sound of a perfect high-five.
• Popping bubble wrap.
• When commentators say what I said to my friends.
• Stapling a finished essay together.
• When the lights dim before the start of the movie.
• 'Easy to Peel' Oranges.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am currently in the lucky position of studying abroad for the year. While I am here I'd love to venture out of my town in rural Pennsylvania to see some of the great cities and places around while I'm living this side of the pond. I think coachsurfing is such a remarkable and individualized way to get to know the places you go, through the people you meet and that is what traveling is all about.
Interests
I love to watch football on the weekend, as well as pretty much any sport. Since being in the States, and in the right time zone to stay up and watch it, I've found myself getting into ice hockey and basketball games a lot more. As far as football goes I'm a Carolina Panthers fan, I started playing football in the UK a few years ago. I have currently switched back to rugby now at college here.
As a politics student I am exploring the mysterious world of US politics for the first time properly, so I've started to take a keen interest in the elephant and the donkey in the room.
I appreciate live comedy and music, and I find it particularly satisfying when I come across unique or little known beers.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: This depends on my mood. I'll listen to pretty much every genre at some point. But my favorites are HipHop, Blues, Country, Reggae, and Indie. It's fair to say that it varies.
Films: Tarantino. Pixar. Space Jam and Coach Carter. Suits. Breaking Bad. And anything with David Attenborough's voiceover.
Books: Lee Child, John Grisham, Ken Follett, they're very much my airport books. I am currently trying to read my way through the classics which I missed out on because I thought them to be uncool during school. I am open to suggestions to add to my reading list, so if you have a favorite book too let me know about it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
During my travels in Uganda, myself and a few friends who I met out there went on a short tour of the country on motorbikes we'd hired. It took me through some of the nicest views and roads I have been on, riding through the foothills of Rwenzori Mountains with sheer drops on the side of the road and through safari national park ending up on the beaches of the Ssese Islands. It was a sense of freedom that I have seldom experienced since.
Teach, Learn, Share
Learn: I am currently attempting to learn a little Russian, after meeting some Russian friends, I've found the language very intriguing. Any help with this would be rather fantastic.
Teach: Having worked as a Chef for a summer season in a traditional restaurant back home, I have a book of recipes collected and expanded which I would be happy to share and swap with you and even cook up a feast, if your happy to let me use your kitchen.
Teach: I can also teach English to anyone should the situation arise.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Most importantly I can share my sense of humor, laid back ways and cleanliness. As well as a meal or a beer should they be interested.
I spent a year living in rural Uganda, so if east Africa is a place you are interested in but haven't travelled to yet, I may have some good tales to tell about my time there and the places I found myself in.
