CURRENT MISSION
Hosting and Getting Down with Travelers in PDX
ABOUT ME
I appreciate all things creative. I make sound collages with my housemates and we all jam on the many keyboards and instruments around the house from upright bass' to the Stylophone. I've loved all of the hostels I've stayed at, such as the Green Tortoise and one of my housemates was a "tour guide" for them.
Hopefully this will inspire poetry and music! I look forward to meeting people who are comfortable with a community with fewer closed doors.
PHILOSOPHY
You can only grow if you are open and accept the people around you without hesitation. I am a Tibetan Buddhist and so I believe in openness, gentleness, curiosity, and patience.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm constantly finding new spots and love to go out, so I'm glad to check out the city with surfers. Looking forward to cooking with surfers, watching some freaky films on the projector, and talking philosophy, getting to know new folks.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I stayed with someone who creates journal comics in Seattle who let us crash with them for a couple of nights, both very friendly laid back people who I stay in contact with. I stayed with another couple in Seattle and went to a house party with them.
Interests
Thai, Italian, Caribbean, French, and Mexican cooking; writing French and Spanish poetry and reading South American surreal poetry; I was in a band called It All Sounds the Same and we played drum machines and synthesizers in a cafe called Ad Astra.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love The Science of Sleep, The Princess and the Warrior, and The Time of the Gypsies.
I grew up reading science fiction from the 60's such as Ursula K. Leguin, John Brunner, and Harlan Ellison; I also read Barbara Kingsolver, John Steinbeck, and George Saunders.
I listen to Mount Kimbie, Forest Swords, Moon Duo and Wooden Ships and White Fence (San Fransisco psychedelic rock and metal in general), The Yellow Swans, Rodriquez...etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have been to the Montreal Jazz Festival and electronic festival MUTEK, Burning Man, and locally The Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival, and Earthdance on Wavy Gravy's land.
Teach, Learn, Share
I write poetry, draw tattoo-esque flowers and animals, and make drone music and ambient beats.
