About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn to be mentally grounded in the present instead of being so nostalgic and anxious about the future. I would also eventually like to travel in northern Africa.

ABOUT ME

I'm generally a reserved person but when I vibe well with someone I open up considerably. I can be pretty funny in a dry and sometimes sarcastic way. I'm very curious, open-minded and politically left-leaning. I've always been considered a "nice guy" (for better or worse). However, I'm not a push-over; I'm definitely capable of speaking up when I feel that I'm being disrespected or taken advantage of and have been known to flip off drivers and swear like a sailor. I'm not a wacky guy nor do I take myself to seriously; rather, I'm grounded somewhere in the middle. I value passion and simplicity in my life and prefer to focus on what's most important to me and cut out the excess.

I'm also the father of a beautiful and awesome seven year old girl who is the light of my life.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm just trying to live my life the best I can without stepping on anyone's toes. For me, simple pleasures are the key. I seek love, beauty and understanding. That may sound like some "hippy bullshit" to you, but I'm for real.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm just getting started and have yet to participate, but I plan to host travellers and hopefully someday do some couch surfing elsewhere.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm a new member and do not have any experience yet. However, I'm excited to get started!

Interests

Well, for starters I absolutely love music. I feel fortunate to be able to explore and listen to new music every day for a living.

Here's some other things I like: camping, hiking, going to the beach, walking in the city, looking for cool vintage stuff, record shopping, going to art house cinemas, people watching and daydreaming.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have very eclectic taste in music and appreciate artists in many different genres. I grew up on hip hop and alternative/indie rock, but nowadays I especially like jazz and have been getting deeper into reggae and regional music from many areas of the world (especially Africa and various African diasporas).

As for movies, I especially like documentary films, foreign films and art house/independent films. Basically, I'm not a big fan of Hollywood. "Aguirre, the Wrath of God" by Werner Herzog is one of my favourites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a summer in Australia when I was fifteen as well as my entire senior year of high school in Switzerland. One of the most amazing things I've seen and done in my lifetime is swimming in a cenote in the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico.
