About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Copenhagen :-)

ABOUT ME

I'm open minded and friendly and although I've lived in England for many years, I'm not a very reserved person ;-).
I'm quite rational and down to earth. I like making fun of silly things and I often take a mickey out of myself!
I'm never bored, I'm curious about almost anything. I love travelling and observing other cultures and people. When I'm away, I rarely take pictures of myself, I always try to capture people's everyday life on camera. I studied at art faculty and I'm a ceramic artist by profession. I'm much into art and photography, but studying counselling and working with autistic kids at the moment.

PHILOSOPHY

Your right to freedom ends where another person's rights begin.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We believe in 'take and return' principle of CS, so we give priority to people who themselves host other surfers. This way the favour goes round making CS community much stronger (and fairer :-)).
It's great to offer our roof to people who for one reason or another decide to visit Bristol. We are not always able to host, but when it is possible, we are most happy to offer our spare sofa, food and our company.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I joined at the end of August last year, so have not had that much Couch Surfing experience yet. We have hosted eight people so far and we really enjoyed the time they spent with us. I stayed with great people in Italy and Oslo. It all worked out really well. Very positive experience so far for a beginner :-)

Music, Movies, and Books

Films: I like World Cinema, but have a weakness for Danish and Scandinavian films, where most serious topics are often interspersed with surreal humour and absurdity. They can be serious, painful, hilarious and wacky at the same time, yet not feel far fetched or pretentious. In general I value honest, creative cinema, but I'm not overly keen on main stream movies (I'm a little allergic to emotional manipulation or sentimentality, that's all ;-)).
Some of my favourite films are Festen, Drabet, Tillsammans, Arven, Brodre, Green Butchers, The Kingdom (Riget) series, also Kontrol, 12 Angry Men, Bicycle Thieves, This Is Spinal Tap and most things by Jan Svankmajer (Czech surrealist animation artist and filmmaker ).

Books. Yes. My favourite writers are Milan Kundera, I.B. Singer, Sholem Aleichem, Erich Maria Remarque, Patrick Suskind, Marek Hlasko, Ian McEwan, Henryk Grynberg, Bernhard Shlink.

Music: Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, Madredeus, Golem, Pink Floyd, Warsaw Village Band, Klezmatics, Brave Old World, Nick Drake, Neil Young, Janis Joplin, The Doors, Oy Division.
