About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Have you come cook for me!

ABOUT ME

I've been traveling since I was 19 - not a very good tourist, so I like to settle somewhere, live and work there and really get to know the place. Born in the UK, I first moved to France for a couple of years (not too far to start with), then travelled around India for 7 months before taking a job managing a safari camp for a season. Then I moved to Argentina where I worked with horses for a bit and then settled in Buenos Aires for 4 years working as a graphic designer and hosting a TV cooking show. Back to the UK for a spell before taking my motorcycle from Alaska to Argentina for 7 months. I headed back to Alaska because it was awesome and from there moved to Wyoming USA to work as a wrangler (horses again), then to Colorado to snowboard and do a degree in Outdoor Recreation Management. Then back to the UK to teach kitesurfing (as you do) which took me all over, including Mexico, Philippines, Portugal, Egypt and so on. I moved to Perth 10+ yrs ago to teach kitesurfing and trained as paramedic, which I love.

PHILOSOPHY

Respect - it doesn't get any simpler than that.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have slept on MANY couches around the world - not all through this site as such, but by meeting likeminded and generous people on my travels. I am now settled for a bit and would like to return the favour!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went for a surf one morning off the beach in Suffolk Park, Byron Bay, NSW, Australia. I'm a novice and was getting pretty pounded and not catching much. I was pretty tired and sitting there catching my breath when 12 dolphins came up and said hello and see if I was ok. Then they went surfing. It was beautiful to watch. Surfing is so much more than just catching waves.

I've been a Paramedic for 10 years now. There isn't a day goes by that I am not left awestruck by people's humility and bravery. I think I have the best job in the world.
