hey! I'm a 25-year-old guy from Feira de Santana, Bahia, Brazil. I was born here, moved to a lot of cities until I was ten, then came back, and have lived here ever since. I've taught myself English and I'm passionate about learning languages; now I'm planning to start off learning German. in fact, I'm so into languages that I teach them! I've been teaching Portuguese (my native language) and English on the popular language-learning platform italki for two years. you can check out my teaching profile and have classes with me by clicking on the first link above. go on! anyway, I'm an easygoing, down-to-earth, open-minded, and distinct guy, who doesn't put labels on himself or on anyone else regarding anything. I'm open to experiencing new things that come across my way; life is too short to worry about what people will think or to put ourselves into a box of labels and limit ourselves because of that.

I love the idea of meeting up with different people, getting to know new perspectives, and sharing experiences and good times. I love to talk about things such as philosophy, sexuality, music, culture, social behaviors, languages, politics, and religion (and I'm a chatterbox, be warned!), but I also love to talk about more ordinary yet enjoyable stuff, smile, open myself up, and give the best of me. although I may seem like that open of a person, I'm actually unapologetically very reserved and introspective, enjoy doing things on my own, and commonly engage in self-reflection (which is my main source of maturity). that means that I love to spend time in silence as well, enjoying the moment—if that's what you're up for; human interaction and connection are immeasurable in any way and I think I've found a way to balance things out that makes me highly adaptable. in short, pick some beers up, put some background music on, and let's share incredible moments! =) ah!, I love to bike! if you do too, we will have another amazing thing in common to bond us even more! also, it's worth mentioning: I fucking love to read and I'm kind of a would-be writer; I occasionally write lyrics and novels, but nothing published (for now), just for fun and friends. my mind is always coming up with pop-up ideas, so I gotta write 'em down. most of them are really dark, should I warn. and, besides more structured works, I just love to write well (and at length!), express ideas in depth, study all the aspects of those languages, eat up everything about them, polish up my style, and vary the register I communicate with (from highly formal to stupidly informal). ya know the whole 'grammar Nazi' thing? that's me. what about 'you ain't nothin dude'? me again. ('{your} so right man LOLOLOL' won't happen, tho.)

enfim, sou um cara tranquilo, pragmático, de mente aberta e diferente, que não rotula a si próprio nem aos outros em relação a nada. estou aberto a experimentar novas coisas que surjam para mim; a vida é tão curta para nos preocuparmos sobre o que os outros pensarão ou para nos pormos em uma caixinha de rótulos e assim nos limitarmos.

amo a ideia de me encontrar com pessoas diferentes, conhecer novas perspectivas e compartilhar experiências e bons momentos. amo conversar sobre coisas como filosofia, sexualidade, música, cultura, comportamentos sociais, línguas, política e religião (e eu sou um tagarela, esteja avisado!), mas também amo conversar sobre coisas mais comuns (mas prazerosas), sorrir, me abrir e dar o melhor de mim. apesar de talvez parecer muito aberto, na verdade eu sou bastante reservado e introspectivo (e não tenho problemas com isso), curto fazer coisas sozinho e comumente me dedico a autorreflexão (que é a minha principal fonte de amadurecimento). isso significa que amo passar tempo em silêncio também, curtindo o momento — se for disso que você estiver a fim; interação e conexão humanas são imensuráveis de qualquer modo e creio que já tenha achado uma forma de equilibrar as coisas que me faz ser altamente adaptável. em suma, pega umas breja, põe alguma música de fundo e vamos compartilhar momentos incríveis! =) ah!, eu amo pedalar! se você também ama, vamos ter outra coisa sensacional em comum para nos unir ainda mais! além disso, vale a pena mencionar: amo ler para caralho e sou meio que um aspirante a escritor; de vez em quando escrevo romances e letras de música, mas nada publicado (por ora), apenas por diversão e para amigos. a minha mente está sempre recebendo ideias inesperadas, daí eu tenho de anotá-las. a maioria delas é realmente obscura, devo avisar. e, além de trabalhos mais estruturados, eu simplesmente amo escrever bem (e exaustivamente!), expressar ideias com profundidade, estudar todos os aspectos dessas línguas, devorar tudo sobre elas, polir o meu estilo e alternar o registro com o qual eu me comunico (de altamente formal até estupidamente informal). saca o professor Pasquale? sou eu. que tal 'os cara me disse'? eu de novo. (mas 'ow nada {haver} mano kkk' não rola.)

Music, Movies, and Books

bear something in mind: Pink Floyd is the GREATEST act this world's ever witnessed. ;) so, if you are a fan of theirs, we are going to get on REALLY great, hahaha. 'animals' is the sickest album ever put out and 'careful with that axe, Eugene', the greatest and most spiritual musical journey to have ever been made available to us, mere mortals. any questions? OK, let's move on.

music is simply, basically, and thoroughly the thing I dedicate myself to the most, so, if you want, we can discuss it for endless hours (but be prepared for an overwhelming chatterbox. I DON'T listen to music like most people do). you can check my music taste out on Last.fm and judge me! :) (second link above. I'll probably check yours over, though, so be careful!) in any case, though progressive rock has remained my favorite genre for some years now, I listen to a lot of things; from classical music to black metal, soul to samba, folk to forró. I'm a big fan of music in general and I'm always open to discovering new bands, artists, and genres. I've had 'phases' throughout my life, starting off as a religious boy listening to 'christian rock' and ending up as someone who listens to Behemoth after having just listened to Aretha Franklin.

the only criterion that I require today is that the music needs to be honest in some way. that automatically rules out most pop music today, watered-down radio-friendly rock wannabes, Brazilian funk, and shit like that. (no, I'm sorry: I'm not your typical Brazilian who enjoys Carnival and Anitta. gringos, please: you were much more fun when you listened to 'the girl from Ipanema' and not 'vai malandra'; go back to that! :( #heartbroken) I've got strong opinions about those phenomena, think that they've been stealing the space that should belong to good music and true musicians, and actually stand against them as much as I can. relativisms such as 'you can't discuss personal tastes' bore me to hell, but that doesn't mean that I'm not open to talking over the issue; I'm expressing my personal points of view here, but you can always try to change my mind. :) (good luck, mate.)

anyway, besides music, I obviously enjoy watching movies and TV shows like every normal person out there, but unfortunately I'm not a movie or TV junkie, since I have no time for that. so probably I haven't seen that movie you like or have not been following those TV shows everybody has. in any case, some of my all-time favorite movies are: the whole 'Scream' series, the 'Digimon Adventure tri.' series, 'I Spit on Your Grave' (2010), The Sixth Sense, some classic horror movie series (you know, 'Friday the 13th', 'Evil Dead', 'A Nightmare on Elm Street', 'Halloween', 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre', 'Child's Play', etc.), 'Busanhaeng', 'Akmareul Boatda', 'What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?', 'The Devils', 'Psycho', 'Martyrs', '2001: A Space Odyssey', 'La La Land', 'Rosemary's Baby', 'The Fly' (1986), 'Ladri di biciclette', 'Brutti, sporchi e cattivi', and so, so on...

as I said before, I love to read, but haven't been able to read a lot nowadays as well. in the future, when I go back to reading as I used to, I'm going to update this section with some of my favorites.

música é simples, básica e completamente aquilo a que mais me dedico; logo, se você quiser, podemos discutir sobre o assunto por infindáveis horas (mas esteja preparado para um tagarela descomunal. eu NÃO ouço música como a maioria das pessoas). você pode dar uma olhada no meu gosto musical no Last.fm e me julgar! :) (no segundo link acima. entretanto, provavelmente eu vou analisar completamente o seu, então tenha cuidado!) de qualquer modo, apesar de o meu gênero predileto ser o rock progressivo já há alguns anos, eu ouço muita coisa; da música clássica ao black metal, do soul ao samba, do folk ao forró. sou um grande fã de música de modo geral e estou sempre disposto a descobrir novas bandas, artistas e gêneros. já tive algumas 'fases' durante a minha vida, começando como um garoto religioso ouvindo 'rock cristão' até chegar a alguém que ouve Behemoth logo após ter ouvido Aretha Franklin.

o único critério que eu exijo hoje em dia é que a música seja honesta de alguma forma. isso automaticamente exclui a maior parte da música pop atual, coisas metidas a rock sem culhão algum feitas para o rádio, o funk brasileiro e outras porcarias do tipo. (não, desculpe-me: não sou o seu brasileiro típico que curte carnaval e a Anitta. gringos, por favor: vocês eram muito mais divertidos quando ouviam 'garota de Ipanema' e não 'vai malandra'; voltem a fazer isso! :( #coraçãopartido) nutro opiniões muito fortes sobre esses fenômenos, creio que venham roubando o espaço que deveria pertencer à boa música e a músicos verdadeiros e, na verdade, oponho-me a eles o máximo que posso. relativismos do tipo 'não se discutem gostos pessoais' me entediam para-um-caralho, mas isso não significa que eu não esteja aberto a debater a questão; estou expondo os meus pontos de vista pessoais aqui, mas é claro que você pode tentar me fazer mudar de opinião. :) (boa sorte, amigão.)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm passionate about teaching ordinary things I know, from the languages I speak (portuguese and english) to lifelong, developed, personal knowledges. I think we can learn so much just from talking and being open to getting to know people and their perspectives. and I'm open to learning new things, everytime; from dancing (I'd love to!!) to how to play any musical instrument (I'd love to as well!!); from cooking to fixing things up; from how to appreciate wine to playing some sport. life is an eternal teachable undertaking.
