About Me

*I'm fully vaccinated and would want you to be as well

Hey!
I'm Navonil (31) and I'm crazy about going to new places and interacting with new people. Other than my work as a tech consultant, I'm really passionate about singing, travelling, reading, writing and experiencing different cuisines. Having worked and travelled across different parts of India from an early age, I'm full of entertaining stories. I'm a trained Indian classical singer and love music around the world.

My work takes me to many places across the world, and I try to squeeze 1 or 2 personal days at a hostel or homestay before jumping into conferences and meetings. While my solo travel has been cut significantly after I got married (and also the pandemic), I enjoy travelling with my wife even more.

We have our own apartment in the city of Hyderabad which is spacious and are open to hosting and showing people around on the weekends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To experience life as a local in different places in the world and make new connections. I love speaking and am also a good listener.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Hindi and Bengali music - Arijit Singh, Hemanta Mukherjee, Lata Mangeshkar, SD Burman, Kishore Kumar, Mohd Rafi and many other. Indian classical maestros like Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Mehdi Hasan, Begum Akhtar and Jagjit singh are also favs.

Favorite movies would be "Man from Earth", "Bridge to Terabithia", "V for Vendetta", "Rang de Basanti", "Chotushkone", "Ghare Baire Aaj" and many more.

I love late night shows (Colbert, Daily show, Kimmel) and my favourite is John Oliver's last week tonight. In Indian sphere, big fan of Newslaundry podcasts and Ravish Kumar's primetime.

Favourite books include "Harry Potter", all books by Ramchandra Guha, Rabindranath Tagore, Satyajit Ray, Alexandre Dumas and others. The last book that influenced me greatly is "Atomic Habits" by James clear.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The last one would be beating covid narrowly in April 2021 after being in the ICU for over a month; which changes my perception on how to prioritise things in life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach writing, singing, Google ads and marketing etc. I'm open to learning anything - but most excited about learning to cook local cuisines.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Lots of stories from across the world and an open minded, well - informed conversation.

Countries I’ve Visited

Cambodia, Nigeria, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United States, Viet Nam
