About Me

Hi there! I’m Nazgul, originally from beautiful Kyrgyzstan, a mountainous country in the heart of Central Asia. I’m a communications and PR specialist with over 10 years of experience working with NGOs and international organizations, including the UN Development Programme. Recently, I’ve started a new chapter in my life as a film producer and director, focusing on powerful social stories from my region.

Outside of work, I’m a social dancer — I absolutely love salsa, bachata, and kizomba. Dancing makes me feel alive and connected. I also enjoy hiking and have explored many stunning places across Kyrgyzstan. Two of my favorites are Issyk-Kul Lake and the magical Kel-Suu.

I’m the eldest sibling in my family and feel proud of my brother and sister. My sister is a talented baker, and my brother plays professional football here in Kyrgyzstan.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m here to make new friends from around the world, both by hosting travelers in Kyrgyzstan and by meeting locals when I travel abroad. I believe that Couchsurfing is a beautiful way to connect across cultures and share stories, laughter, and experiences.

Interests

One of my biggest passions is dance. Since 2019, I’ve been dancing social dances like salsa, bachata, and kizomba. It started as a hobby, but quickly became a way of life! I’ve attended several dance festivals in Bishkek and Almaty, where I’ve met amazing people and grown both as a dancer and as a person.

The social dance community in Kyrgyzstan is still small, so we often travel to Almaty to join events and connect with more dancers. It’s always a joy to share the dance floor with people from different cultures — no words needed, just rhythm and smiles.

Besides dancing, I enjoy hiking, cinema, and exploring local traditions and food wherever I go. I also love good conversations, storytelling, and learning something new from every person I meet.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to music, I enjoy a mix of international and local artists. Some of my all-time favorites are Sam Smith, Zeynep Bastık, and Jax — a talented singer from Kyrgyzstan whose music really speaks to me.

I’m a big fan of films that stay with you long after the credits roll. My favorite movies include The Devil Wears Prada (fashion, ambition, and Meryl Streep — what’s not to love?) and The Pianist, a powerful story that moved me deeply.

As for books, one of my childhood favorites is "Little Women" by Louisa May Alcott. I’ve always loved stories about strong, curious girls who grow into brave women.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most meaningful things I’ve done in my life was working at the Center for the Protection of Children in Kyrgyzstan. I supported children in difficult life situations, helping them get access to essential things many take for granted — like birth certificates and identity documents.

I also helped organize crowdfunding campaigns to raise money for medical treatment, school supplies, and basic needs. It wasn’t always easy, but knowing that my work made a real difference in someone’s life is something I’ll always carry with me.
