This is the exceptional story of one exceptional man: Mr. Kim Ny, and his exceptional journey which led him to create the organisation CPOC.

Mr. Kim was born in 1979 during the unimaginably dark, violent and repressive genocidal period of the Khmer Rouge (in present day Cambodia.)

His mother passed away shortly after his entering this world and his father soon also left the family (of his own accord), leaving Mr. Kim to be brought up in the desolate land of post Khmer Rouge Cambodia solely by his sisters and his ailing grandmother.
This would leave any child traumatised, but to add to this Mr. Kim was born handicapped; leaving him unable to walk.

His perseverance and determination as a human being led him to make the decision to attend school, despite his physical condition and despite the fact that his family were now living far below the poverty line. In a wealthy and developed country in today's world, such as Italy, there would be social support for Mr Kim and his family. Back then though in a Cambodian land desperately trying to rebuild the fragmented shards of its war-torn society there was no such support and traveling the 6km to attend school meant that Mr. Kim had little option than to crawl on his hands and body. You would think this was in itself an unjustified life punishment, but to add insult to injury his other classmates would often laugh and taunt at Mr. Kim as they walked past him on their daily walk to school, with his frail body burning on the ground in the hot dry season and caked in mud and drenched in water in the wet season; resulting in Mr. Kim often being forced by his teacher to study class from outside of the classroom through the window because of the stench accumulated on his journey to school.

If we look honestly into our heart of hearts, how many of us would have given up in Mr. Kim's place and simply stopped attending school altogether? Writing this I wonder whether I would have been capable of experiencing such suffering simply to attend daily school.

But Mr. Kim was so determined, so exceptional in his humanity, that he braved his situation and each time he fell down he got up again. Nothing was going to stop him from receiving his education. Nothing.

In time his perseverance paid off and he developed into a gifted student; receiving for example recognition of his skills by a disabled organisation which supported him with computer and English lessons. This led him at the age of 19 to successfully entering the Cambodian workforce, and for the first time in his life Mr. Kim - the boy who had once crawled on hands and body to get to school - was now earning a relatively high wage. But he never forgot his roots. His suffering. His humanity.

Although Mr. Kim was a success in his new employment position - enjoying all the financial rewards which one would receive through such a position - he took the very brave, and as it turns out very fateful decision, to agree with his employer to leave his comfortable job and he spent the next year traveling the Cambodian countryside in his wheelchair in order that he could witness first hand the needs of the impoverished small towns and villages; hoping to find solutions along his journey for the`desperately poor and needy.

Since then Mr. Kim has done amazing work for the people of Cambodia, helping people to stand up for themselves after their fall(s) and learning to be self-sufficient.

In June 2011 he founded CPOC: Caring for Poor and Orphaned Children.
This organisation provides essential help for children and their families.

CPOC currently provides:

1. A safe home and environment for a total of 27 orphaned or abandoned children (including also children coming from hopeless family conditions where they were victims of violence and alcohol/drug-related family abuse).
2. English, music, sports and art classes for more than 200 children living in this impoverished countryside in south-east Cambodia.
3. Rice, clothes, clean drinking water, digging wells and basic housing for these poorest Cambodian families.

Mr. Kim welcomes local and international volunteers to make the journey to come visit CPOC and help him to further develop the goals and amazing work of CPOC.

I am currently a volunteer at CPOC and I see with my own eyes the huge difference which volunteers make here in helping Mr. Kim continue to help the poorest and most vulnerable members of this regional community; helping them to stand up after falling down, no matter how many times they may fall.

You can make a difference too, and we really need your help.

Our mission at CPOC is to contribute in making this world a better place, and for us it begins here at CPOC. We have completed many projects here but there is still so much work to do.

Our current mission is to build a new CPOC community centre, school and orphanage on nearby land which we have recently acquired through donations.
This will vastly improve the quality of life for the orphans at CPOC, their families and the local community.

Please find it in your hearts to donate as little or as much as you can afford because every donation is most gratefully received and helps all of us at CPOC tremendously.

Together we can do it!

Musica, film e libri

In the ways of music and song, I love romantic song.
I love to read the book that talking about life skill and how to break poverty of education.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

I built four house for 4 families around rural side of Cambodia because I found out their children don't have a safe and warmly roof for their living.

I build five water pumps for 56 families around rural side of Cambodia. Because they don't enough water in dry season. The distance to get water is around 10km from their families.

I support 24 water filters for 12 family. Because they don't have some material or tool to keep clean water.

I am running a center to support safe roof, good food, healthy care, education and life skill for 17 children from poor, orphaned, homeless and stress feeling children.

I am running 3 village school. And my support English classes, Computer classes, Organic Farm classes and life skills for over 450 students from around my centers.
