About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Meet people from many walks of life and share stories.
ABOUT ME
An Oregon son spawned from rock star parents turned collegiate academic, now aiming for "international man of mystery" status. Fluent in English, savvy in Spanish, and proficient in Thai. Nostalgic for Latin America, Southeast Asia, and even the Maghreb, but enjoying the Empire daily. I seek to improve the world or at the very least to experience it!
PHILOSOPHY
"Once upon a time, in some out of the way corner of that universe which is dispersed into numberless twinkling solar systems, there was a star upon which clever beasts invented knowing. That was the most arrogant and mendacious minute of 'world history.'"
- Friedrich Nietzsche
"Dharma practice starts not with belief in a transcendent reality but through embracing the anguish in an uncertain world... [it] then proceeds to apply a set of principles to understand the human dilemma and work toward a resolution... There is nothing particularly spiritual about this path... It is an authentic way of being in the world.
- Stephen Batchelor
"Agnosticism, in fact, is not a creed, but a method, the essence of which lies in the rigorous application of a single principle... Positively the principle may be expressed: In matters of the intellect, follow your reason as far as it will take you, without regard to any other consideration. And negatively: In matters of the intellect do not pretend that conclusions are certain which are not demonstrated or demonstrable."
- Thomas H. Huxley
