Hey, my name is Nimai (pronounced nee-my). I'm from Hawai'i and although I've spent time on all of the islands, I know Oahu and the Big Island best. I'm brand new here, and I don't feel my place is ready for guests yet. But until then, I'm here to check things out and get to know the community.

Travel Goals and Dreams
Visiting and possibly living in countries of my heritage... Ireland, Germany, various Scandinavian countries, Japan, Greenland, and of course the Native American in me needs to continue to dig deeper into the continental US and Canada.

Hiking/Backpacking
I'd like to backback the JMT, the Ozark Highland trail, the North Cascades, the San Juans, Artic Circle Trail, and many more. I'm still a pretty green backpacker, I've mostly just done trails in Hawai'i. Kalalau, Waimanu Valley, Haleakalā, Mauna Loa Summit.

What about the AT, PST and CDT you ask? I ask myself the same thing. I'm honestly not sure if the big thru hikes are for me. Maybe I'll find out one day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really just joined to see what it was about and see if couchsurfing could be apart of future travel plans. And once I'm able, to give back.

What I'd like to learn? To climb a coconut tree, to do a standing backflip, bike repair, to cook Indian food, constellations, improve climbing and bouldering skills.
