Overview
About Me
I am currently a graduate student at Columbia University in NYC. Originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
In a nutshell:
1) Appreciator of good conversation and getting to know people.
2) Worshipper of the Holy Trinity: good food, good music, and good books.
3) Spontaneous.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm currently not hosting, but am a willing weekend tourguide for anyone who is passing through the Big Apple.
My previous couchsurfing experiences have been in: Boston, MA; New York City, NY; Newport, RI; Tagaytay, Philippines; and Cusco, Peru.
I've been lucky to have friends who live all around the globe, so I usually end up on their couches. It's a bit of a rarity for me to do so with complete strangers, so I always look forward to the experience :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - Dave Matthews Band, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Queen. Aside from these, I listen to pretty much everything, from Aerosmith to Spin Doctors.
Movies - I watch everything with low expectations, so they almost always turn out great.
Books - Wilbur Smith, Will Ferguson, Rory Maclean, A.A. Gill and other quirky travel writers.
. . . Oh, and Calvin & Hobbes. Amazing stuff, and practically shaped my childhood.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Completing a Master's Degree in 2016 (fingers crossed!) after being locked down with a job for six years.
Finished the four-day Inca Trail, on Machu Picchu's Sun Gate. Survived Dead Woman's Pass on Day 2 of the Trail too, holy shit.
Dined under the stars on top of Mount Titliest in Switzerland.
Watched my brother leap off the roof of Kensington Rooftop Gardens on his birthday.
Spent a week camped out on Ban Tai in Koh Phangan.
Busked to the beat of the Beatles in Central Park.
Grabbed a bull by its horns in Ronda, Spain.

Teach, Learn, Share
What I can share with other CouchSurfers:
Back-alley, tucked-away-in-a-corner art and culture spots of Kuala Lumpur.
Wide open spaces, lush greenery, and generally mind-boggling scenery of the natural kind.
A passion for food! What Malaysians are mostly known for is their neverending appetite for good local cuisine. I'll introduce anyone who's adventurous enough to develop new taste buds to the wild and delicious world of "mamak" food.
An exchange of ideas and views. Usually after I'm fed copious amounts of good hawker food and settling down with an after-dinner ciggie.
Also, for anyone who's interested, a chance to learn to play the trumpet for free!
