Hello there! My name is Neil, I come from the tiny Mediterranean island of Malta and am currently living since August 2016 in Germany, first in Darmstadt and then in Karlsruhe.

After a bit more than 2 years in Germany, my wife and I are now on a journey throughout Europe to experience different modes of living, in particular community life. We are also visiting eco-projects are trying out wwofing\workaway.

Before moving to Germany, I worked in the IT industry for almost 16 years. In Germany I decided to change completely and have worked for two years with people with physical disability. In general, I'm looking more into paid and volunteering work that has a more social aspect.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing to get to meet new people as well as to connect with other couchsurfers when on the road.

Interests

I am interested in participating in community gardening activities and I like going for hikes and walks in nature.

I also like to spend time learning to play piano and guitar. I am also learning the Djembe and would love to find a drumming circle with which to play on a regular basis.

I am also interested in playing Billiards and am always very keen to meet up and play!

Music, Movies, and Books

My music tastes vary and what is a favourite today can easily change in a week. I like to listen to many different genres of music, out of which I probably listen mostly to eletronic music / ambient.

With regards to movies I am not a big fan of watching movies. I do occasionally watch some graphic animes such as those by Studio Ghibli, of which my favourite is Spirited Away.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of my most profound experiences was visiting a huge salt mine in Romania, and another has been visiting Alaska, particularly a canoeing trip through a river which then opened up into a lake very close to a huge glacier!
