I live for the moments in which one forgets that all else exists
"The only periods, I suspect, when a man feels captain of his soul are those when he has not the slightest need for such an organ"
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet new people and talk about the world with as many people as possible!
Unfortunately my situation currently is that I cannot accept guests at the apartment I am staying at but that will change soon so I can take part fully in the world of couchsurfing!
Cooking and eating delicious food, tea, beer
Anything that involves moving! climbing, hiking, biking, snowboarding, skating, wakeboarding, golfing, kayaking, swimming, sailing, etc.
Philosophy and logic, although I have a lot to learn
Self sufficiency. I find it an incredibly attractive idea to be able to produce all that is necessary for life by one's self in a sustainable manner.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I am a huge fan of electronic, deep house, nu disco and such but I also love some old rock/folk like CCR, Neil Diamond, James Taylor
Here is a link to my soundcloud (mostly electronic)
On a different note, the sounds of nature - the waves lapping on a shore, the sound of wind rustling tree leaves on a silent night, the low growl of thunder from an approaching storm, the cicadas in late summer,
Movies: I've been getting a bit into German film as I have acquired the langauge - Ein Lied von Liebe und Tod, Das Schloss,
Romeo and Juliet (with Leonardo di Caprio of course), Donnie Darko, Breakfast Club, Requiem for a Dream, Blue is the Warmest Color,
Directors: David Lynch and Wes Anderson
Lastly, I quite enjoy documentaries that show an unsuspected little slice of the world. I like to grow my view of the world so I can better understand people's motivations and drive
Books: Never Let Me Go - Kazui Ishiguro, Desert Solitaire, The Monkey Wrench Gang - Edward Abbey, The Stranger - Camus
I casually enjoy poetry I come across and keep a list for myself on my phone :)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
6000 mile road trip around the Western United States (Bryce, Zion, Red Rock, Rocky Mountain National Park), and through Mexico
Teach, Learn, Share
I try to be active in the process of learning something every day. Sometimes it is only university work that I can manage but I prefer to be tinkering with a machine (my motorcycle is preferable) or learning how to carve a pipe or how to code or how to 3D design
I am open to learning any and all things. If you have something you consider yourself to be pretty good at I would love to be shown around and see what you have to say/show
I can teach music if any CS'ers have the desire to learn! I can play the piano and a smattering of percussion instruments. I have a strong desire to learn the mandolin but have yet to find one for a good price
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm a very laid back person, easy to get along with and I love to share new experiences with people
In the more materialistic kind of things, I can cook some pretty good food here and there
Countries I’ve Visited
Austria, Canada, Colombia, Germany, Ireland, Mexico, Netherlands
Countries I’ve Lived In
Germany, United States
