About Me

I live in Salt Lake City and work in and around the nearby mountains.

I'm interested in the different ways people define their personal culture. I like visiting new places to get a feel for the area and its attendant history, language and culture.

I love languages and have dabbled in Arabic, K'iche Maya, Hebrew, Amazonian Kichwa, Guarani, Chinese and most recently French, but claim fluency just in English and Spanish, with passable Portuguese.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is a way to experience a place in a different way than you could experience on your own. It lends a better sense of what it is like to actually live in a place, in addition to visiting it.

I especially like to learn how to make the food of a place I am visiting, or share something of mine.

I Couchsurfed initially in Turkey and Iraq with my brother, and enjoyed the experience, I've also discovered hosting is really enjoyable.

Teach, Learn, Share

Forager in training. I'm happy to share suggestions of less-commonly visited things to see in my area.

I'm always interested to learn how to make a new food, or to teach someone a recipe I know.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love cooking and am happy to help prepare a meal, especially if it means I can learn how to make something new, or share something from my culture with you. I can teach English and help with gardening or chores around the house you'd like done.
