About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To spread joy across the globe! ...whilst eating donuts.

ABOUT ME

I'm currently studying for a PhD, which may sound dull - and is at times - but I do try to make it as interesting as possible (plus I have nobody to tell me when to be in the office). I enjoy life and advocate enthusiasm in about everything one does. I cycle everywhere, whether as a means of transport or purely for enjoyment. I enjoy being active and take part in a number of activities- chiefly rock climbing, but also cycling, slacklining (a bit like tight-rope walking but, well, slack!), running and hill walking. Generally, I just just being outdoors.

PHILOSOPHY

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Eat well
Drink copiously
Have fun
Get out more

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm keen to get involved with both surfing and hosting, as much as my house mates will tolerate. Unfortunately I don't have a spare bed, so it will probably be a COUCH surfing or campbed surfing experience. I'm not averse to giving up my bed for the odd night though.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far just one experience of surfing with the legendary Des in Chicago. This truly was an amazing experience, even if I only spent 24 hours in his company. Des treated me as well as, if not better than I've possibly ever been treated before! I also met two equally lovely couchsurfers who stayed with Des at the same time.
This experience compelled me to participate more in hosting, in an effort to repay my debt to the couchsurfing community. I have had some wonderful experiences since starting my hosting career, and have met some wonderful people who I sincerely hope to see again in the future.

Well, this seems to be a bit repetitive but:

Music, Movies, and Books

A question I hate...
Favourite book, possibly Grapes of Wrath; I mostly enjoy reading classics.

Music... much love for Nicolas Jaar and his compatriates; other similarly minimal electronic music; Flying Lotus, Four Tet, Boards of Canada. Others include Beirut, Grizzly Bear, Meursault, Apparat.

Films: British/European indie films generally appeal to my senses most, but not exclusively. Requiem for a Dream; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; Into the Wild; The Lives of Others, Goodbye Lenin, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelled in an old land rover from the UK to Jordan via. North Africa, then onwards to Nepal (minus Land Rover).

Countries I’ve Visited

Egypt, France, India, Iran, Italy, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, Nepal, Spain, Syrian Arab Republic, Tunisia, Turkey, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
