About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To climb, surf, bike and snowboard around the world

ABOUT ME

I think people would best describe me as quiet and friendly. I try to let my actions speak louder than my words, and I think this shows in all the things I'm passionate about - cooking, snowboarding, climbing, biking and surfing.

PHILOSOPHY

Life as a journey - enjoy the ride!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

This is my first time on couchsurf. I hope to meet some great new people and one day return the favour when I have a couch of my own to offer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None as yet...

Interests

I love the outdoors and meeting other people who love enjoying the outdoors. I have been spending the past few years living in mountains around the world, whilst travelling to interesting places in between. Japan has been one of my favourite places to live, work and meet great new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I read a lot of fiction, both modern and classics - David Mitchell is one of my favourite authors, and I'm looking forward to reading more from Doris Lessing.

I love all good music of most genres, but detest bad, commercially driven music.

Love the Studio Ghibli movies, any by the Coen Brothers and many inbetween.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching the sunrise over the mountains in Hakuba this summer left me completely awestruck. Getting up at 3am to begin climbing, then witnessing the beginnings of a new day halfway up a completely deserted mountain was unforgettable.

Back in May last year I spent a few days around Ishinomaki helping local people clear up after the devastating Tsunami. The damage was immense, but the peoples strength even at this time was humbling. I could never imagine being in the situation they, like thousands of people across Japan are in, and only wish for their future peace.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Netherlands, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Canada, France, Japan, Laos, New Zealand, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Viet Nam
