About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Improve very slightly every day.

ABOUT ME

27-year-old guy from Ireland. I'd like to think I'm relaxed, have a good sense of humour, open-minded and generally up for fun.....or maybe I'm just a complete douchebag, who knows?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was curious for a while and eventually tried Couchsurfing for the first time in Summer 2014. Was hosted by some wonderful people in Georgia and Iran, great times! Have hosted several people in Dublin and was hosted in Summer 2016 by Jaafar in Iraq, all good experiences.

Interests

I try be a 'generally interested' person regarding all aspects of the world around us, but particularly its people - what makes them tick, their achievements, their personalities etc. I probably fancy myself as an amateur psychologist...

I love trying to understand why things are the way they are - as simple and slightly weird as that may sound.

I'm a huge rugby fan and will play/watch nearly any sport. My degree subjects are history and politics, so of course I'm interested in these areas.

I won't mention travel (seems a bit obvious on this site!).

Music, Movies, and Books

All genres of music (changes with my mood). Hard to pick only a few but favourite movies include American History X, Lives of Others, City of God and, of course, guilty pleasure epics like Gladiator and Braveheart.

Favourite books would be Philip Pullmans His Dark Materials trilogy (childhood) and non-fiction/biographies on topics and people I find interesting.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walking on top of the grand bazaar in Istanbul is the most recent thing I can think of. Felt like James Bond.

Teach, Learn, Share

If anyone is stupid enough to want to learn a very difficult and completely useless language, I can teach them Irish (Gaelic). It's spoken fluently by less than 250,000 people so we use it as our "secret language" when abroad - talking about loud/weird people on the train for example.

If you have a masochistic side, I can also bore you to death with lectures on Irish history, if you're into that kind of thing.

Countries I’ve Visited

Albania, Armenia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Iran, Iraq, Ireland, Italy, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Vatican City State, Wales
